Just saw this on instagram!...
Yeah, knew its been happening for a long time but never actually seen how they do it! Crazy!Nothing new.
It's not key cloners, but signal relays.
It's why we often recommend people with keyless entry to use tins/pouches to act as a faraday cage when not using the car, particularly when it's parked up at home.
Disklok makes zero difference! Takes seconds to get off! A lad has just had his RS taken with a genuine disklok fitted......they removed it in seconds! Nothing will stop them taking your car its that simple. Also unlikely to be taken with a Disklok fitted.
AutoWatch Ghost will pretty much stop them unless they lift and/or tow it. And this is why I keep my keys in a metal Roses tin when they're in the houseDisklok makes zero difference! I don't really agree with you on that point. Yes, there are expert thieves out there that can defeat anything, even Auto Ghost recently, but there are also far more chancers of smash and grab mentality, who would be put off by a disklok and move on to an unprotected one. I still hope that if 2 STs are on a car park, one with and one without a disklok, which one they gonna try and nick??Disklok makes zero difference! Takes seconds to get off! Be interested to know how that happened, when even replacing the ECU won't bypass it.Autowatch Ghost you say? Didn't stop them taking a friend of a friends Focus RS within seconds, without the keys. They broke into the car, bypassed Ghost and drove off.
Faraday pouch and Disklok is best security measures.
Yes this is very interesting!! I have had the AW Ghost fitted since I got the car in September and I was assured by the fitter and AW themselves that their system cannot be by passed. They could have towed the car, lets be honest.Be interested to know how that happened, when even replacing the ECU won't bypass it.
Ive just read a post about on Instagram about Ghost being by-passed easily. Apparatly they have made a statement about a new software download to stop it? This will effect you, so surely they will let their customers know?Yes this is very interesting!! In this instance, the Focus RS was not towed, it was taken in seconds, Ghost was bypassed. The RS was then crashed and abandonded. Ghost have since issued a statement about it all, apparently updating their software to prevent this happening again...Yes this is very interesting!! Unlikely was the word I used. I did not claim a Disklok made it impossible.Disklok makes zero difference! Takes seconds to get off! A lad has just had his RS taken with a genuine disklok fitted......they removed it in seconds! Nothing will stop them taking your car its that simple.
Thank you for this information...much appreciated.Ive just read a post about on Instagram about Ghost being by-passed easily. Apparatly they have made a statement about a new software download to stop it? This will effect you, so surely they will let their customers know?
No problem matey, I just find it hard to believe that customers havent been informed of this very serious matter. Feel for people out there with pre March 2017 installations who have no idea!Thank you for this information...much appreciated.
Been onto the AutoWatch Ghost website and can confirm, after speaking to them via email, that installs before March 2017 need a software update. Installs after this date are fine, apparently.
Very good, if you are clever enough to do it. Obviously you can't say on here for all to read, how you did it. I would be worried about cutting into modern looms or wiring, though happily did it in the seventies on Minis and Escorts.Fit hidden fuel cut off switch like I did on mine last week.
You can't take it even with the keys.Cost ÂŁ3 and 20 minutes to fit.
This Disklok, allegedly removed in seconds, the lad must have left the key in the disklok.Disklok makes zero difference! Takes seconds to get off! A lad has just had his RS taken with a genuine disklok fitted......they removed it in seconds! Nothing will stop them taking your car its that simple.
Or he pushed the lock down without engaging the pin so that from the outside it would appear locked, but would just lift up as the locking pin was not engaged. This Disklok, allegedly removed in seconds, the lad must have left the key in the disklok.
Disklok makes Zero difference? Utter nonsense.
Nothings safe with a angle grinder in your hand...A disklok is an extra layer of security, the more layers the better but it's widely known throughout the forums they have a weakness and can be removed in under a minute
