Merry Christmas folks!
Just wondering if anyone has converted a pfl to push button start?
Cheers

Whilst I hear what you are saying and I intially followed the logic, I doubt this will really be the decision maker on if they try and steal a car or not.yeh, but if thieves see a push button, they might think its an easy steal, may put ya window in..never know.
And a lot of expense, new ash tray, wireless surround and then it does not fit the same around the drinks holders from memory, easier to fit on to original trim.As Alb said, it can be done, but won't work like it does in a FL car. As for mounting it, the center console from a FL is pretty much a straight swap, you just need an extra metal bracket that bolts to the transmission tunnel. You will have to put up with some horrific fake carbon though.....
Interesting, how does the relay know the car is running to turn off the circuit to the starter motor?I did it in my old car changed to the facelift console and decided to wire the start button up.You have to do a bit of wiring and fit a relay to make the start button work.As said you still need to turn the key to make the button work.Once the car is started due to the relay the button will not do anything if pressed by accident
Exactly the same as the mk1 RS then. Pointless.Pointless in my opinion. It's like the FN2 Civic Type R setup: Insert key, turn key, push button. Why? Just insert and turn key!
See my post above, it adds to the event of driving the beast ;0)Exactly the same as the mk1 RS then. Pointless.
I'm going down this road, priming it b4 u hit the loud button!! Haha! Cheers for all the input lads!I have done this on the Elise many years ago, it was easy! It came in a kit with a replacement 'spare' button/switch so looked OE.
I like still having to use the key as that is like priming the car (you hear the fuel pump prime, the stack clocks spring to life -stutter in their reset procedure), you then press the button to bring the beast alive ;0)
I just wonder where you would fit the button on the ST to still look OE and there is no risk of catching it.
