I would check the battery first.

 

Ah okay. I recently had to replace the battery as the car was stood so long after COVID it ended up knackered. So as far as I can tell, the battery 'should' be okay but maybe earthing or something like that?

Did you do a Battery Management System Reset? After replacing your battery.

 

Hi all - I have done some further work. I replaced the replacement battery with a Ford VARTA equivalent and did a Battery Management System Reset I think and used FOrscan to clear the codes. I did think all was sorted but not so luck I am afraid.
I reset the code in Forscan and took the car for a good long drive, the code did not show whilst the car was driving and the car drives normally Only when the engine is switched off and left for a few minutes - the engine restarted and the fault appears immediately.
The P0069 code is always accompanied by code U0401 (ABS) which does seem odd. Can anyone point me where I can find the MAP sensor so I can check whether the sensor itself is situated correctly and wiring is good?
Any other pointers would be really gratefully received at this point before I have to take it the dealers

Thanks for the pointers - I will take a look shortly although the images don't quite match my engine type (Diesel TDCi turbo) these should at least point me in the right direction.

Hi - thanks for all your help so far - however, I am not much closer. I found a great guide on here on how to clean the MAP sensor so I went ahead and removed the headlamp as instructed. I had a good poke around in that cavity but there was nothing that resembled the images from the guide - so alas I am no closer to finding it. Just to remind, my engine is a 2.0 TDCi as far as I understand. Any more ideas out there on where I might find this pesky MAP sensor?

I thought the diesel didn't have a MAP sensor

 

Hmm - that might be a possibility. However FORScan swears blind it is a MAP sensor fault and realtime reading says MAP reading of 121kPA which by all accounts is quite high.
The Ford dealership didn't have one listed but Eurocarparts is delivering one tomorrow

I will see what turns up in the post and see whether I can find something within the engine that looks similar. I did see a picture of a 2.0 TDCI Mondeo engine with the MAP right up near the Manifold so might start to look in that area.

Ford often name things strangely and i bet they have called the MAP sensor the Air Charge Temp Sensor like they did on the Mk2 RS. if so its part number 1867675 £31.69 from Ford. 12A697 in the picture.

 

Thanks very much for this. I will take a look at that and see if there are any obvious signs of wear etc. This would explain why it has been a monumental pain trying to find reference to MAP sensor outside of Forscan.

 

Hi all - the new part received and fitted, cleared down the error in Forscan but alas the error came back pretty much straight away. Is there a reset routine that I should be looking to perform or any other MAP type sensors that might need to be looked into can anyone advise?

Just for ref (and I am assuming this is why the car is throwing the error) -

MAP - 120.0 kPA at idle (reducing under load)
BARO - 102.0 kPA at idle

Hi all - well I booked the car in for diagnostic for this coming Thursday. However, I started the car on Saturday morning and the traction control error did not come on and also a few miles into a test journey the engine warning light also disappeared - not sure whether the car needed to re-learn the new sensor or whether it was in response to getting it booked into the Garage that made it reset itself!!

The car will still go into be looked at as obviously something triggered it in the first place. I will let you know if the garage finds anything.

Hi all - the car has been in diagnostic for a few days but still not conclusive however he mentioned things are pointing to an issue with the electronic throttle control. Does this mean the throttle position sensor possibly? I was just wondering what the potential costs might be for parts - sounds scary
