Do you have it in gear with the clutch in whilst trying? If so that's there to stop you doing a silly launch and ruining the drive shafts. In Neutral I think it should rev freely up to the red line, not that I ever tried it..

 

If the clutch is pressed then the revs are limited.

Only in 1st and 2nd. And 3rd and 4th and 5th in the wet.. . . not that I would do such things... or reccomend it!

It's doesn't make any difference if the clutch pressed or not, I was sure it used to rev up to the redline before though,

 

Have you got a lambda extension, could be that if you don't have that the ecu is killing power and the remaps are hiding the warning light.

 

Don't think it's got a extension on it, where's the best place to get one,

 

Is you car properly warmed up?

Could be the "launch control" was the TC turned off when you were revving it ? Do different maps have different rpm settings ?

Lunch control: clutch down, rev to limiter, dump clutch. I suggest you do this at every set of traffic lights.......

 

Only tried it with engine warmed up, just tried it with ESP off and it's still the same,
Only tried to rev it to hear a couple of bangs and to see if it was running right,
Stock map only revs upto 3k, mod x revs up to 4k and all the other six maps rev upto about 3.5 k,

 

Should be able to get an extension off one of the sponsors their not that expensive.

 

The sad fact here is the ops already said it's means to an end in lighting up the front tyres. Personally I've got better things to spend my money on then new boots evey week.

Of course it is mate. Your car is doing what it's supposed to. The rev limiter (not launch control) is normal. If it was definitely revving higher before, then that wasnt normal/

 

I thought it higher before de-catting, perhaps my pre facelift did and I'm thinking of that, just thought there it should rev high freely to the redline, if it's normal then thats fine, just wasn't sure, thanks

 

Mine would rev to red line in neutral, before and after decat, however op hasn't said clutch was in and he was looking for launch control, op was just asking question.

 

It don't make any difference if clutch is in or out, esp on or off, hand break on of off still the same, didn't think st had a launch control,

 

The ST doesnt have the mystic launch control, its just a rev limiter to stop you from killing your car.
Your car doesnt rev beyond 4000 revs but im guessing its fine once on the move so I really wouldnt worry about it.
Think of it this way. The next time you leave your car to be valeted the pimply little chav who will sit in it cant rev the

out of your car.

No. Does it mapped and standard.

 

Old thread I know,but mine will not rev above 3500rpm whilst stationary in neutral with clutch out or clutch in obviously.Collins performance assures this is normal and not just clutch in.Only found out whilst having the use of a sound meter to check the exhaust noise,VOSA say get it to 3/4 of the maximum revs to check.

 

Old thread , but im wondering if this is a feature on later push start cars , mines 2010 and wont rev either in neutral past 3-4k , fine once going

Looked at my car today and wouldnt in my right mind rev it over 2k revs. WTF are people thinking? Thrash the guts and think its acceptable hence my first ever post on this forum asking about unmolested examples with no mods whatsoever.
