Seriously considering getting my final new or pre reg ST. I looked at one in the exact spec I would want and was pleasantly surprised to see they have finally upgraded the instrument display, it is a big improvement over the previous dull effort. And you can select a view which actually puts numbers on the speedo and the rev counter, it’s more colourful and if I get one it has to have that. Trouble is nobody seems to know exactly when it was introduced, it looks like cars built very late last year onwards.

I took it for a drive as I was concerned about the suspension not being adaptive. I needn’t have been, was quite impressed with the ride and refinement. Seemed more comfortable and refined than my previous MK4’s, a bit of tyre noise from rear showing but think they have honed this into a pretty good car as they always do when models are approaching the end. Found the lack of buttons is still naff and the sync 4 Screen a bit monotone but would have to accept that. Now to get one at the right price

Pretty sure that change was made around July time when the always on (to start with, it can be turned off) speed limiter function became mandatory. The ST Editions also seemed to kick it off. My car was delivered to the dealer Feb 25 and is the older dash, but doesn’t have the irritating default to on driver aids so that doesn’t bother me.

Mine doesn’t have the adaptive suspension (but has absolutely everything else from the Performance Pack) - it was hard for a couple of thousand miles or so but softened up a bit and suits what I wanted - Sport mode being the same stiffness and more usable because of it.

I didn’t find the speed warning annoying at all, waze also does it so no different, it’s a fairly innocent beep that tells you your speeding, glad of it and absolutely do want it on and wouldn’t turn it off, it only beeps once that I noticed. We have a police/council on a major cash cow drive with their cash vans. No other aids are any different to models of past.

Your car must have been sitting around a while? The car I drove with the new dash was delivered in January

You can change the display view so it shows analogue dials with numbers around the speedo and rev counter (wow what luxury!) but still has digital rev and speed displayed. Million times better. And has more colour compared to ultra naff dull blue older Version. Makes absolutely no difference to me which side the speedo is on. Plus couldn’t give a stuff about remaps either, but im sure they will be along very soon if not already. A DTi box will work now which is as good as most basic remaps

I need to find out when mine was built, as I think I have an 'old stock' new car. It is extremely plausible, as I got mine really cheap; registered by the dealer on 31st December 2024. My dash doesn't look like the one above; it has the speedo on the left. If it is the old style, I don't see any issues. Not as high quality as the digital dash on my A4, but it's a Ford, not an Audi. It much more fun to drive, though!
If so, on the plus side, it should mean the ECU isn't locked. I need to give Mountune a call!

I would recommend Laird over Mountune. Their Stage 1 LP1R map is so much better. More power and torque and tweaked for each individual car, not a generic map like most of the others.

If doing remotely, you upload your stock map, they send you a remap and ask you to perform some data logs which you send off. They then tweak the map and send you another updated map. Can also request certain features, like more pops in overrun, different map for 95 and 99 RON etc.

Mine is a fantastic red track pack. Tyres are week 5 2024, therefore build date should be Feb/ March 2024. No wonder it was cheap!
Bought myself a year old new car! I did wonder why the nannying stuff (speed limits and lane assist) wasn't set to on by default! Not a bad thing IMO. I have a new Audi A4 and that is bloody annoying, as the nannying defaults to ON with every start and is not easy to turn off each journey.
