Hi oliver i picked up my st edition today how do you cancel the beeping noise when you go over the speed limit or is this a feature you cant get rid off
Unless that’s a new feature then there’s definitely a way of turning it off. Is it in the driver assistance settings? One of the reasons I got another Focus was that you can turn all of the beeps and lane keeping off, and they stay off. It’s so irritating in other new cars. That surely can’t be something that has been changed with the new dash software.

Congrats on your new ST edition. In my standard ST you access that from the Features Button, then Driver Assistance, then Traffic Sign Recognition, and in that menu there's a speed warning option you can toggle on or off. In another menu there's an option to increase the tolerance up to 5mph over the limit.

I think I like that. Not sure if the little car in the middle means my favourite feature of the current dash would go though - the picture of a Focus that appears when adaptive cruise is on that turns into a picture of a Mustang in Sport mode!

The Ford website isn’t really clear on if software updates are available now - it just says the vehicle has automatic updates. I can’t believe there have been hardware changes for what’s effectively a run out model, though the large screen is in the facelifted Kuga too.
Hi everytime you start the car you have to go in to features and speed limiter assist and disaable the speed recognition icon before you drive off this has to be done every time you start the car

Noooo way! You are saying they have changed this menu and settings options so now it can't be turned off permanently?

Christ, I’ll be turning off the software update function if that’s the case. Quite like the new graphics but I prefer not having to mess around turning stupid driver ‘aids’ off.

I really do hope it can be turned off permanently at least via Forscan. Otherwise the car will make my life a living hell while driving it...

EDIT: This is from the latest owner's manual, for vehicles built from 21/03/2024:
SPEED SIGN RECOGNITION SETTINGS

Setting the Speed Sign Recognition Speed Warning
  1. Press Features on the touchscreen.

  1. Press Driver Assistance.

  1. Press Speed Limit Assist.

  1. Switch Speed Warning on or off.
Note: The system remembers the last setting when you start your vehicle.

TRAFFIC SIGN RECOGNITION SETTINGS

Setting the Traffic Sign Recognition Speed Warning
You can set the system speed warning to alert you when the vehicle speed exceeds the speed limit recognized by the system.
  1. Press Features on the touchscreen.

  1. Press Driver Assistance.

  1. Press Speed Limit Assist.

  1. Switch Speed Warning on or off.
Cruise Control Limiter Button
Press and hold the button to temporarily switch the speed warning off.
Note: The speed warning turns on automatically after every ignition cycle.
Setting the Traffic Sign Recognition Chime for Speed Limit Change
  1. Press Features on the touchscreen.

  1. Press Driver Assistance.

  1. Press Speed Limit Assist.

  1. Switch Chime for Speed Limit Change on or off.
Note: The system remembers the last setting when you start your vehicle.

So apparently, the manual contradicts itself. One times it says sytem remembers the setting, the other time it says the speed warning is on everytime you start the vehicle?

Im surprised Oliver didnt mention it when he got his a couple of weeks ago its the first thing i noticed when driving home from the showroom even my wife said how do you get that off

I will definitely be resisting any software changes if this is the case. My car is older than the March 24 date and works as I want, hopefully it stays that way!

Well, at least based on the manual you should be able to switch it off temporarily by holding the "Lim" button on the steering wheel. That is easier than navigating the touch screen and going into different sub-menus. I suppose "temporarily" means that it will switch back on if you start the car next time around.

My understanding is that all new vehicles that have the technology need to have speed limit detection and it needs to be manually turned off at the start of every journey. So yes, turn the car off and back on again, and exceeding speed limit detection is back on.

As I said, it's the exact same in my new volvo and has to be turned off everytime. It's just part of the turning the car on process 😅

I think the issue here is that’s how all Volvo’s have been for a while, the way that system operates is new for the Focus. Mine (built February 24) doesn’t require the stupid safety systems to be turned off every time you start the car. Just seems odd it would now do so.

Again, apparently this is due to a new regulation. Across EU but UK adopted it too. So for a change, it is not because Ford being idiotic...they did not really have a say in the matter. Soon all new vehicles will have to come with such systems and settings. Although as long as it can be deactivated for the given journey by pushing one button only, I tend to be mildly annoyed but overall OK with it. Same case for me with Start-Stop system. Once I need to navigate some menus every time I start the car, I loose my sh*t.

Think I prefer the dash in my current one. I do like how they've added the speed around the edge's however.

I believe the startup screen is Focus again too? Instead of ST. Wonder if that can be swapped.

As for the speed warning surely must be able to sort via Forscan. I'd definitely be having a play.
