As some of you probably know I've recently bought a second hand gearbox, had it refurbished and fitted it to my car.
I now find myself with a spare gearbox that I could put on eBay and try to sell or a few other options I'm thinking about, but before I follow up any of those routes, does anyone have use of a gearbox?
It shifts fine. I believe the gears/synchros themselves are fine, but there's speculation about either wear on the differential giving it backlash/play and it was mentioned today it seemed like the differential bearings might be failing. If it's one, both of these or something else wrong I don't know, I've not opened it to find out yet, but hopefully would be fixed with a replacement diff (maybe an LSD?
)
My car is knocking on 135k so it's hardly a new box but would likely be perfect for someone doing what I did to have a box ready as a straight swap. I was worried about getting the box open and finding something unexpected that would leave me without my car for a few days or more but didn't have to worry about that with a rebuilt box ready to go.
I don't like eBay and I don't like the idea of scrapping it. This box has done me well for quite a few years, and was a vital part of my very very loved ST. Throwing it away seems wrong.
Soo... Any one have any interest?
