The car holds you for a few seconds to allow you to move from your brake to your accelerator.

Normally found on auto cars to stop you rolling back.

You can turn it on or off - some don't see the point; me i like it.

 

do they have gear shift indicators?? also fo they have hill start assist as i wasnt aware of them?



i thought this was what it was but was thinking this was more an automatic thing then a manual sports car to be honest but if its on there then good idea. thanks

 

I guess it uses the ABS module to hold the rear discs. It's quite good really but I can see how it could be viewed as a little intrusive... In the same manner as the gear shift indicator.. a little unnecessary.

 

The gearshift indicators are a suggestion to change up or down to help with fuel economy.

The hill assist only kicks in on a certain incline when you have your foot on the brake - if you use the handbrake the assist doesnt come on.

You have to becarfull when accelating the first few times until you get used to the "hold" as you can give it to many beans and you look a bit of a twit as the car shoots off up the hill.

Personally I like it, I don't always use the brake to hold the car, still use the handbrake if i know the lights are going to be red for a while, but if its a short stop then it's nice.

 

What annoys me is that the car clearly has a tilt sensor to activate the Hill Launch assist but it isn't connected to the alarm. Just so fords can try and sell you an expensive add on module!

 

It's only detecting the tilt in one direction though, and I would imagine only works when the engine is running.

 

I suppose, but hill launch assist does also work if you are reversing up a hill to stop you rolling forwards
