My ST is now over 13 years old and the headlamps have never flickers.

Or should I just play safe and get a new light? They are only £40 ea on ebay. I dont mind just doing that.

 

Before you do that, consider the possibility that it could be caused by the alternator.

 

Know anyone else with the same car, so you could swap lights? That way you could determine if its something in the light units, or the car

 

What do you mean by "flickering" ???

My ST is the first car I've had with HID units with the (mandatory) self leveling system and on the few occasions I drive in the dark they give an annoying appearance of flickering because, on the appalling roads we have here in rural East Anglia, they are constantly going up and down trying to keep themselves level. Once I'm on a (very rare) smooth "A" road the appearance of "flickering" goes away.

Obviously that doesn't explain one of them now going off completely but it might be what you've seen previously if your roads are as bad as around here.

 

Ok so a little update guys, it was the bulb that was faulty. Got a set (ordered 2 by accident) and fitted them and they now work perfectly.

Just FYI, the flickering failed an MOT. This was because it was flickering when it was stationary (you can check my MOT, M24TNR). But after a little chat the car passed
