fuel filler cap missing/not locking

Just picked-up new EO st surprised to see it had a quarter of a tank of fuel....so no need to pull in at the nearest petrol station!

Anyway decided to go for a run in it and thought it best to fill-up before going.

Then arrives at petrol station and................strange no filler cap.

Thought must be new style, then realises when I arrive home that fuel flap is not locking either.

The rest of the car is locking OK.

Is the locking of the fuel filler flap purely electronic or is it linked in some way to the missing filler cap?

Hoping it is something very trivial, too late to go back to the dealer this evening!

Can anyone shed any light on whether this is likely to be a simple fix?

If your ST is a facelift it has a newer design of fuel filler neck which doesn't have a cap but instead there's a flap that seals the neck and is pushed out of the way as you insert the right type of filler nozzle. It's designed to prevent you putting diesel in a petrol car and vice-versa. All the info is in the handbook.

And for the facelift the flap doesn't lock either, bit of cost cutting by Ford it appears.
