Centre Screen Not Working

Was out tonight driving when all of a sudden the centre screen on the dash went off, cant seem to get it back on, the radio continued to play perfectly fine and all the dashboard controls still work fine, just the screen is turned off. Only had the car a fortnight, am I getting into a right old mucking fuddle and somehow switched the screen off (if that is at all possible to do?) or in typical fashion has it broken just after I've purchased the car? If so i'll have to take it back to dealers and get a replacement. Any help greatly appreciated guys, thanks in advance.

Mine did exactly that in the morning two days ago and again when I tried at lunchtime. Turning power on and off didnt fix it.

When I left work in the evening though it burst back into life. I've also been gettin a 'No GPS' warning despite the fact the GPS still seems to work; the sat nav electronics are housed in the screen unit so maybe no coincidence.

I'm pretty certain you can't switch off the screen on it's own.

Perhaps disconnect and reconnect the battery to give it a clean reboot. I've done that, but i am going to open it all up at the weekend to check the wiring.

Is your's a sat nav version.....I have the full Sony non Sat Nav set up sitting in the garage waiting for a new home.

Mine is the sat nav version so no good there, but thanks anyway. I did the same as you 'have you tried turned it off and on again' several times but to no avail. The screen came on as normal on startup but just decided to switch off on its own accord about 2 mins after I set off. On the upside if it is ******** at least its not me being an idiot, i'll give it a while to see it it comes back on, can really get down to the dealer until the weekend anyway.

Well I got in the car for work this morning and its seems to have decided to behave itself and the screen has come back on as normal and stayed on, not sure exactly what happened with it yesterday not working but looks like I'll have to keep an eye on it.
fingers crossed......that's the solution I'm relying on.

If you do go to the dealer and you have a genuine fault, (apologies if you know this already) you can get a 2nd hand replacement on Ebay much cheaper and it only takes about 10 minutes to switch the unit over yourself.

Thanks for the advice, i'll do it myself then if it comes to it, but hopefully it will behave itself and carry on as normal
