How do you measure the "improvement" you get from using this?

 

Well I noticed-
Increase in mpg
better emissions (used it on a car to get it to pass emissions part of mot as it just failed on emissions)
Smoother idle

This is what I noticed on other cars but not used on ST... If I was to use it on st I would just see how the car feels, how it idles, mpg to measure improvement.

 

I've used it. Seemed to run a little smoother on idle and mpg was slightly better, say about 2 to 3 mpg for a while. Other than that, no major performance differences but I recon it's worth doing now and again just to keep the engine cleaner. There were no negative effects anyways

 

I'm very sceptical with products like this. Fifth Gear did a feature where they tested some 'fuel additives', most did nothing and some even lowered performance!

I can guarantee you this does make a difference we sell this at our work and it is an excellent product thats come from wichita in the USA if the car has done 25k or more a tin of 44k will remove any carbon deposits in and around the piston crowns and cylinder head area and also clean the injectors to help run smoother.
Everyone ive sold a tin too came back and said how the car felt more responsive and some inc an audi diesel owner said it reduced smoke too

 

Have you heard of the placebo effect? Subjective comments from users are often wrong...you need hard evidence to convince me.

 

They won't increase performance loads, just clear some build up from in the engine which would help it run better, would it not?

Personally I would never use a product like this to 'increase power' but would consider using some sort of fuel system cleaner to try and help make sure everything is clean and get rid of any carbon build-ups.

I know when my old XR4x4 was borderline on emmissions the garage used some sort of fuel system cleaner to help her pass and it did the trick with a markable improvement (although that was on a 22 year old engine with 150k+ miles).

It would be interesting to see a comparison test detailing if these products do actually have a cleaning effect. I know my Dad used Redex on his TDCi Mondeo and says economy was improved by about 5mpg although again that's a 140k+ engine and a diesel.

I guess the jury's out on this one. I've heard the better fuels (v-power etc.) have additives to help keep your engine running efficiently.

 

I've used similar products before on our old people carrier and it does run better and idle better, but its really high miles and not a performance car.
I usually treat it once a year before the MOT.

the additives in v power are no where near as strong as bg44k, i only ever use v power and i still noticed a difference. you are right in what you are saying as a older coked up car will benifit more from it but i still works well on newer well matained cars aswell. the best thing to do is give it a go yourself!

 

id rather not be called a thief thanks, if you asked i would tell you i bought these from a rep of bg44k as i thought my boss would be interested in selling these at work but he wasnt so i have a case to sell.

On the plus side i agree with you on the product itself being a stronger additive than V-Power itself...
btw 10 quid is too cheap mate 15 is better.

i got them very cheap and i just want rid of them, i still have about 18 cans left and im keeping it at £10 posted, if i dont sell them on here ill put them on ebay for £15!

I tried it in my astra (1.

with around 60k on the clock and I felt it made a difference...decreased performance at first but then drove much more smoothly and felt stronger

Nmuch tried it in the focus yet

 

Iv'e put this in the last three cars i've had and yes i noticed a difference they all ran better and increased in mpg and yes I've just put it in my ST and can feel a improvement. £20 kwik fit

only problem you might get is if you have a 'cap-less' fuel cap

you need to open to flap to put the stuff in, i've seen with diesels you get a plastic filler pipe you push in, never seen one with the petrol
