I got our first W7 machine in the office today, I had a couple of gripes with it that I sort of bodged into place.
Firstly, you can't get it to automatically display "All Programs" when you go to the start menu even if you have set "Display recently used items" to 0 but I got around that by telling it to show me downloads as a menu and then renaming the downloads folder to what I wanted and shoving all the relevant folders snad shortcuts in ... you end up with a nice sexy spit out box to use.
Secondly, I couldn't find a way of getting the Control Panel back into some sort of useable form, it was all categorised and unhelpful, but that's something that I'll figure out in time as and when it's needed.
Oh and the other thing I din't like was the junk it auto-pins onto the taskbar for you (I'm on W7 PROFESSIONAL not HOME) I don't want that
on there ... we use loads of quicklunch icons as well and it took me a few minutes to get it to fit all the icons (double stacked) and a useable taskbar, but yeah, there was a setting buried somewhere about "Don't use gay, bloated, pointlessly over-size icons"
But yeah, having used the RC and now fully using it in our office environment (that needs to run stoneage software
) I'm pretty certain that I'm gong to get the call that all our workstations should now use it ... fun fun fun!
