that silly little beeping noise is actually the alarm on the
- how quiet!!!!

I'm guessing I left the car open after I put the tax in it this morning (
) and as I'm sat here enjoying a brew I thought I heard something - well I'd never have guessed it was the alarm on the car - it was only the indicators flashing that gave it away.

I know people have said it's quiet, but I don't think for one minute that would wake me from my sleep

Lock the car and try and open the bonnet.

My dad woke my up the other day to tell me my lame alarm was going off. It wasnt, it was his electric toothbrush telling him the batteries low! Pretty sure the toothbrush is louder!

Just make sure none of your neighbours are around at the time - it's really embarrassing if they realise the daft noise is your car!

They won't know; unless your neighbour is Batfink with his supersonic hearing.....
LMAO... That is pathetic

Think a new alarm system is needed in my scumbag hometown full of pikeys!!

It's pathetic for a car, there would be no way I would ever hear it going off if I'm in the house, my motorbike datatool alarm is so loud that it makes your ears bleed... Brilliant and entertaining when it's in for a service and you can hear the beep, beep, beepbeepbeepbeep NENENENENENENENENE as the guys haven't disarmed it before moving the bike

OK not funny now - the car has just started 'chirping' at me again.

This time I know it was locked - does anyone have any suggestions as to why my alarm might randomly go off twice in 36 hours when it has never gone off before???

Thanks in advance

Hi Donna, if youv'e checked all the doors and boot are closed properly it may be a bad conection on one of the door switches? I'm guessing. Prob to do with the wet weather?

could be the movement sensor inside, if your have something in the car that moves, eg a large air fresheners it could set it off.
Had this problem in my CTR and it was down to a faulty control module.
The system became over sensitive when the weather turned cold.

Donna. I had that happen with mine. Checked doors, windows. Shut vents. Everything. It turned out to be a faulty bonnet switch. It got to the point where I would lock her & before I'd got to the house door the alarm sounded. The bonnet switch is part of the catch. It cost about £30 off Ford. I'll look the invoice out if you want.

Thanks everyone for your replies - I've just been out and double checked the doors and boot and all seemed fine. I also checked no-one had jumped in the car whilst I locked and un-locked it from inside the house - how paranoid

I'm not driving the car as much at the moment and wonder if it is protesting!

Thanks Jane, I've just found your original post about this - I'll double check the dash tomorrow to see if it says about the bonnet.

If you're not driving it very much, check the voltage on the battery?

One of my previous cars got all upset when the battery got low - made all sorts of bizarre noises, until eventually it didn't make ANY noises at all...

I've been out for a drive this morning, and I'm pleased to report car started no problems at all and no messages on the dash either.

The one thing that I did notice that was different was the air vents were left open in the face position, whereas normally I have the blowers aimed at the windscreen
maybe the ghostys were getting in and having a play

Quick update on my random alarm - it appears that it was going off due to the air-vents being left in the 'face' position rather than on the screen, as since I changed them the alarm hasn't gone off in 3 weeks

I hope this posts helps others, as when I was searching (
) I remember reading about someone feeling fobbed off by their garage when they complained about the alarm and were told to check the vents - it appears it might just be the case sometimes
