Hello!
I have recently purchased my ST after it being a dream since I was ten! It’s called Tina.

The car has either got RS reps or the winter pack RS wheels in as they are the same design but are 18inchs. They’re black and I really like them either way!

I want the car to have the ‘stance’ and be a bit a more agile on its feet not to say it isn’t, I’m already looking at ARB’s

What’s springs have people had the best experience with and to get what I want what size spacers do I need?

Thanks in Advance

Tobes

I third Eibach springs. Great bit of kit, great price and solid quality. Not had a single issue with them since installing. Except if you have two heavy adults in the back and are on a bit of an undulating country road with some broken surfaces...

The handling was good, turn in improved a little with the spacers, it felt more planted so to speak, my car came from the factory with the upgraded optional Eibach springs, which I replaced with new ones, pretty oem ride, but with nice handling, the spacers are all yours if you want them. 😁

On my old Mk2 I had 20mm spacers as well no issues. Also Eibach springs. The only advice though is if your shocks are still original don't just put new springs on them as they will quickly start to give you issues & the ride will go crashy and harsh. Spend a few extra quid & get the full B12 shock & spring upgrade. It will transform the way the car handles!

It depends on the mileage the car has done. Mine is still under 60k and the ride is still ok on the original dampers with Eibachs. Only the very worst roads cause any discomfort.

Normal speed bumps are ok too unless they're huge... and those horrible narrow ones on the entry to shopping areas.

Can’t say I had that on mine, I felt it was more planted, with a slight better turn in, I guess it does depend on what tyres are fitted too, but if you do change springs, replace the top mounts and bearings too, with genuine parts, there’s someone on here selling a new set in the classifieds.

The thing is with the mk2's now they are all getting to the point that ALL their OEM components now will be very near, if not past, a useable sell by date! Especially anything rubber etc. So sometimes a good refresh just back to standard makes the car feel a million times better than what you get used to as 'normal' now. Going upgraded is the next step & sometimes going from very worn & 'used to' to upgraded makes the car feel worse when in actual fact it is just that you got used to horrible handling to start with. Plus, be honest, the old Mk2 was not the best handling even in new stock form!!

I'm going through the same
Well they do have rather a heavy lump in the front, considering that, they’re not too bad.
They're OK handling wise, but definitely more suited to A road rather than twisty B roads. A full refresh and upgraded suspension did work wonders on mine though.

well i ordered a set of eibach springs 2 days ago and they arrived today, and i bought the spacers our man sttwoton had for sale. Hopefully they arrive before 12 tomorrow because then i can get them and the springs fitted this weekend. The car luckily only has 56500 on the clock and was meticulously looked after by its previous owners i am the third owner of it so its in really good shape 👌
