What fuel?

What fuel types are you folks putting (or going to put) in the ST.... Is there any performance difference? I know this is an old subject discussed for other cars... Are the performance figures quoted with standard 95 RON? I'm looking at either Tesco what I believe is 99 RON or the Shell v-power....

Can any folks comment who have driven with the different fuels?

Terry

NB. Hopefully picking my ST3 White Estate with style pack and tints on Tuesday.

Being an Ecoboost engine it's designed to run on 95 RON. I normally fill up with Tesco Momentum 99 though, tend to get a bit of extra mileage out of it and the premium fuels have (apparently) got additives that help to keep your engine cleaner.

And congrats on your purchase

Used to use vpower, then they got ridiculously expensive down my way so now use momentum. For the sake of £3ish difference over a whole tank, I might aswell use the good stuff. In my vxr I got more miles using 99 fuels over standard 95. Also got more pops and bangs out the exhaust too. Lol

I ran my facelift ST with 95. I now use 99 Momentum on my 57 pre face.

Definitely prefer the one I use now, feels a bit more responsive, and I can tell there is a teeny ammount of more power available than what I was using before. For those who have put the odd tank of premium in and felt 'no difference' then you probably won't. It takes a few tankfuls for the ecu to adjust for the different fuelling.

Performance is very marginal, so if your not bothered then use 95 and save a couple of quid (but then why did you buy the st in the first place?)

Also methane gas from cow dung decreases performance considerably.

tesco 99 here...i find the dearer fuel in mine is worth it as over the tank its slightly better milage anyway so it pays for it self...

ps i sometimes use v-power im not sure i can tell the difference but when thats in i sure feel better..lol.

never used anything other than normal petrol in our vxr over the last 5 years for me these are normal run of the mill cars and if the manufacturer specifically recommended using v-power etc then i would but considering the price of fuel these days i would rather spend the extra money on beer
