Driving home just now doing 65 in 6th and out of nowhere comes the ESP system fault message on my dash, the car felt fine, maybe a little loss off power but not significant, no strange noises or anything?
I plugged in my stratagem when I got home which said no there was no DTC's, so I unplugged it and started the engine again and the ESP system fault message had gone?
Any ideas anyone ? I'm a bit puzzled ? Thanks in advance

Hi mate.
Its probably the maf sensor.
When my last Maf started to play up it did this carry on for ages before it eventually started to affect performance and running.
Give it a spray with some IPA electrical cleaner in case its got some dirt on it.
Do not touch the actual sensor though or you will need a new one! They are very sensitive.
The Maf is actually a little heated wire that measures the density and volume of air entering the intake.
Fingers crossed it will never happen again

I have caused this fault a few times on mine whilst blipping the throttle and making some pops and bangs etc, I think my ECU gets the hump with me and puts the warning up.

I have also had it when I have been driving in Grandad mode for a week or two and then decided to give her some beans, again I think the ECU gets used to the fueling .....

Normally just flick the key off and on again and all is well

It has not happened once though since I swapped from Bluefin Stg3+ to Pumabuilds map, couldn't tell you why though!

It is more common than you may think, I have spoken to a few owners who get the fault randomly every now and then and both mine and the wifes did it on B-fin, I am convinced it is a minor fueling glitch. Bluefin did use more fuel, more carbon on exhaust tips, more pops and bangs!! It never left a DTC code on either of ours and always reset when the ignition was cycled?

It could be that the ECU was more sensitive to worn MAF on some maps than others, who knows! All I know i that since changing maps I have never seen it again?
