Hi All

Keep reading about 'version5' disc for the sat nav and how it adds / improves various things.

Just picked up my ST-3 on Saturday, it was registered Nov 2008 so assuming nothing else has been added, do you think it needs this version5?

Next thing for me to ask .... Where can I get this done, is it a free upgrade or will I have to pay, is it something I can do my self or does it require a disc etc?

Finally, I have a rough idea how to get my sat nav disc out ( thanks to my post on the forum re info ! ) so should I remove this first and will it say what version it is or is it a dealer only upgrade?

Thanks all

I have the Denso unit but I know that Ford have now hidden the map drive behind the heating controls and the manual says it is not a user replacable part.....i.e. not buying copies off the internet then. Having said that the internet is great as there is plenty of instructions of how to get / replace the disc. I am not aware that anyone has successfully copied one of these discs so it means you paying full price £200-£300 for an update from the dealer. How they can warrant that expense when y ou can buy a tomtom type device for 1/3 or 1/2 that and have the same latest map.

If I were you, make sure the dealer supplies the car with the latest mapping disc. Although i think it may have been better for you to negotiate that when buying the car....doh.

Many thanks for the info. Even though the dealer was a main Ford dealer I doubt they would have been interested in updating the disc so missed out here I guess !
All works ok just couldve done with seeing if I had the latest / version 5 software.

Sorry was just going on stuff I read but further investigations dug up this:

QUOTEIt should be SP5.1 we have. Du kan finne ut Converse+ versjonen ved å holde inne "ok" knappen på rattet samtidig som du trykker og holder inne startknappen i 3-5 sekunder. You can find out Converse + version by holding down the "ok" button on the steering wheel while you press and hold start button for 3.5 seconds. Da får du opp en meny som du kan bla opp og ned i med piltastene i rattet. Then you'll get a menu that you can scroll up and down with the arrow keys in the steering wheel. Korteste "vei" til software versjon er å trykke pil ned. Shortest "route" to the software version is to press the down arrow.

It is a google translation from a norwegian forum so excuse the english.

If that doesn't work then keep looking as there is plenty of info out there. Remember the Mondeo has the same system and has been around longer so will be a better source of info as users are more likely to have satnav on the Mondeo than on the Focus.

Hi, ive posted instructions on the dvd disk removal on a different thread,

http://www.focusstoc.com/forums/index.php?...view=getnewpost

The update disk, as far as I know comes as part of any upgrade map disk you get from ford.

Denso was fitted pre facelift, Blaupunkt, post facelift.

Instructions on removing the panel to access the disk are on the thread above, as well as how to access the menus.
