** Please bear in mind the production numbers of the different colours ie rarer colours/fewer numbers, less likely to have been victims.**

Has your ST been vandalized or stolen etc, if so, what colour is/was it?

Im looking to buy a prefacelift ST and have been doing a lot of research on and off the forum.
When trawling through old threads/posts etc I have found that quite a few members have had some sort of unwanted attention, vandalism or even theft of there ST's. I basically wondered if say an Electric Orange ST is more likely to attracted such things or whether they are generally random attacks in relation to where people live/leave their cars?

I do know that unfortunately there are many idiots in this world that give little thought to damaging or taking other people property that they have worked hard for, but basically I wondered whether I would be minimizing my risk by choosing say a silver ST over an Orange one??

Unfortunately you are probably right!Yes I think it will probably be the case.

QUOTE(Chrissy_bwoy @ 5 Jan 2010, 01:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>moondust silver and it was keyed front to back as well as being reversed into on the same occasion.

Oh no mate!
I was hoping that Silver might be the stylish, understated safe option, as I'm torn between that and Orange!

Maybe you were just unlucky or someone just really hates you!!! lol.

Sorry. lol

I dont think it matters what colour car you have.
Mainly if your going to mod it anyway.
I got a lot of attention before i modded mine and i get even more now & I love the attention mine gets but when u get little S**ts nicking wheel caps and stupid chavs looking in through the windows that i really hate it and wish i had a normal car, but its the way the scum has more rights(my opinion), if they got caught nicking from a car.
All i do to stop mine getting nicked is my garage has a normal padlock, but behind the doors lie to big ballards with 5* locks & i also have a steering lock two. The steering lock key isnt on the car key. and the padlocks for the ballards and both different keys not matching.

My uncle also owns a electric orange St and when where parked together his seems to get less attention than mine a Sea Grey St.

I'm sure that a post about two ST's stolen recently in the merseyside area were both silver
s, maybe becuase they aren't quite so obviously an
(as say orange or blue) makes them an easy target to thiefs - you know, more likely to blend in with the traffic once pinched (hope that makes sense
)

Anyway, as you will always get idiots what ever car you drive who will want to spoil your fun, and life's too short to worry about it, so get whichever colour you like best

p.s. mine hasn't been vandalised *touches wood*

Do you know how many were produced of each colour and also to make it you would need a control of LX Escorts and the size of sample lol

There will be lots more orange simply because they are more common than Vicki Pollard in Blackpool lol

You all make good points.
Yeah, I had thought about production numbers, but hadn't really realized the importance. ie. more orange ST's, more likely to be victims.

Maybe I should just get an orange one and hope for the best?

I went for a perf blue ST because I thought an orange one would more likely get valdalised. Hmm well...

I have had my wing mirror kicked off, almost a fire extinguisher through the back window (caught in the act) and a nice long scratch on the rear quater panel.

Just about every car I have owned has been vandalised with strangely the exception of the Saabs I have had. The worse that ever happened to them was an aerial being nicked, £15 to replace.

Most are little scratches, and I just get it corrected and on I go. Its just a fact of life that their are pond life everywhere and they seek to damage what they cant have.

My ST currently has a keyed bonnet, and a lump out of the rear bumper, will be sorted by the spring

I couldn't make my mind up when I was shopping for my ST, was torn between Orange, Black, Blue and White! Bit of a list there I know!!

I'd set my heart on orange and knew then and now that I would have always regretted it had I gone for another colour.

By sounds of it, it seems whichever colour you go for may attract attention purely for the fact it's an ST. So just go for the colour you want most and just try and leave it in a "safe" place whenever possible.
