Using A Fuel Can

Hi all,

My wife has run the fuel right down on my ST and I do not have enough to get to the nearest petrol station (8 miles!!).
I have got fuel in a plastic fuel can with nozzle but when I tried to use it the fuel just
out all over the road.

Anyone know how I can get over this please.
I have searched but can't find anything.

Cut the top off a 2ltr plastic bottle and use that as a funnel whilst getting someone else (ie the wife) to hold a pen or something in to push the little flap back to allow the fuel to flow into the tank, Does that make sence ?

Let us know how you get on, but trust me it works, ive done it many a time with 20L fuel cans.
Doesn't the facelift come with a funnel to use when you need to fill up with a fuel can

As said, the car comes with a gizmo that does this.
You need to use the funnel, as their are two little flaps, and behind the first is a drain!
That is why the funnel has a long neck on it.

Does a bottle and pen not qualify as a gizmo
(pre-facelift gizmo) not a standard issue tho.

If i was to BORROW the pen from a Ford showroom that part will.....but the bottle would have to be an aftermarket jobbie

After a good look around the car I have found the Ford funnel so thanks for this. The plastic bottle and pen did work though so good to know if you are stuck.
