Tracker Proves Itself!

Just wanted to sing the praises of Tracker ( www.tracker.co.uk ) & to show people that we DO actually respond to stolen cars, not just discard them as another figure!

We recieved a call to alert us that three high powered Mercedes cars had been stolen off of a private driveway after a burglary (keys stolen).

The cars were last seen London bound via the M11. The owner was away on holiday and was contacted by Tracker to confirm if all three cars had been moved by him. When he stated that he was out of the country, they activated the tracking systems.

Due to the equipment the Met Police car's carry, my car picked up the signal that one of the Mercs was giving out from it's Tracker. It was a SL65 AMG BLACK (2009) worth in excess of £230k with extras. Within 20 mins, we found it, parked, locked undamaged and secure in a side road in East London thanks to the tracking system. Car recovered!!

The following one was a SLK280 Kompressor, found three streets away, again locked and secure and undamaged. This was a code we picked up just after getting the first one! Car recovered!

Finally, a CLS was located by another pursuit car a couple of miles away! Car recovered!

All cars were locked , undamaged and unattended, but we had 3 excellent results, getting back well over £350k of Merc's within an hour of the signals being located!

Thought I would just show that it does work, and it works well!

My Xmas wish list..... Tracker !!!

Is that to go with the Road Hawk you also want?!!!!

In all seriousness, you can't knock the system when it recovers that value of cars in such a short period of time - and all without the owner having to come back off the holiday he was on!!

*notes addition to his Christmas List*

I may be selling a top of the range tracker on the cheap, its the monitor one which means its monitored for you I believe. Just needs to be installed by tracker themselves if they will do it, comes with all the paperwork etc.

Was bought from work but then the installation system broken and haven't bothered to repair it so...no way of it being fitted to anything!

I have to admit they are a good system, espicially when you here of stories like the above, you just have to hope that theres no damage and it hasn't been ragged to hard if you do get it back!

Pleased to hear Tracker has done the business Again
My ST was found within the hour of theft been reported by the police chopper, again undamaged and locked up in January this year ! Another bonus for tracker as an existing customer, if you change your car your next unit is free, all you have to pay is a £99 installation fee

Thieves do that normally.

If they steal a high powered car, they will park it up overnight. If it has Tracker, then 99.9% of the time, it will be recovered within a couple of hours. If they come back in the morning and the car is gone, they realise it's had a tracking system on it. If it's still there, then they have bagged themselves a car, until they get caught or destroy it!
My mrs woke me the other week to tell me that some 'hoodies' had put a motorcycle in my front garden.

They were just letting it 'cool down'

Police arrived as they did to collect it - they all ran away, but at least someone gets their motorcycle back.

good results wish i had a tracker fitted to mine now
but what about the cars that dont have a tracker do the police actively look for these cars or is it a case of if they come across it?? what time would the police put on a car never being found as i was told if it isnt found in 3 days its unlikely to be found...

Mat - replying on Scott's (Storm) behalf as he is off to work, due to the number of cars that get stolen on a daily basis in London they don't have the time to hunt for them. The pursuit cars do have a list of recent stolen cars (last 24 hours usually) and keep an eye out but it is extremely hard to predict where a car will have been taken.

In London there are Number Plate Reader cameras (ANPRs) and if your car has been reported stolen then the Police National Computer adds a stolen report onto the system and if your car goes through the camera, it activates and a car is deployed to that area.

With things like Tracker, the police car gets fed a code (individual to each stolen car) through their in car tracker system and they track it until it's found.

I guess it would be tough to proove it was them who stole it....

Also, you have the risk of not getting the quick enough, and a high speed chase.......
My biggest problem with tracker: I get no discount for the RAC Trackstar (factory fitted) on my car from my insurance company and wouldn't want it back if it was stolen so I can't see why anyone would want to buy a tracker system unless it paid for itself through discounted insurance premiums. I wouldn't want a stolen/recovered car afterwards.

If the car was found quickly and not damaged, i would want it back. I do get a discount from my current insurer.
In any case claim is inevitable. I wonder how much is it to replace locks on that SL65

Does your discount more than cover the tracker costs?

Stolen/recovered cars are worth less and and harder sell too. Does a quick recovery result in a stolen/recovered marker on a car?

I guess for everyday cars I wouldn't want them back but a very rare car SL65 Black et al I may feel differently.

Exactly the question I was going to ask.

Obviously Scott (Storm) had a great result in recovering the cars, but are all three of these cars now officially stolen/recovered?

It depends on how long you keep the car.

if the car was found after a few weeks you would still get it back.

Only if you make a claim, not report it stolen, as far as i am aware.
