wanting to swop my corsa vxr for ST as im fed up off the dashboard looking like a christmas trea..even though the corsa is completely standard. Im spending roughly bout 50 a week on petrol in the corsa would the ST be much different? i want to modify it but is there any mods that you can do to the st e.g air filter that actualy improve mpg?. I know that remaps are ment to make the car more economical?..but not 2 sure? any advice cheers

cheers...on the website they said they average 40.1 LOL...so i guessing thats out the window
. Alot of people seem to praise the car so maybe the extra petrol would be worth it...better to spend more time driving it than it bein at the dealers with a lit up dashboard like the corsa lol:)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my car. Trust me - just test drive one and you'll be hooked. As is said already not a green car but as a rather smart guy says - you get smiles per gallon, not miles per gallon.

Oh, and once your hooked just £10 to fully join here and you'll get all the best advice possible from actual owners! Amongst other benefits.

i was thinkin of going to a corsa vxr to save money.

im puttin £50 a week in the focus. on average getting 22-25 MPG and 31MPG on a long run with no traffic.

Ive since decided to stay with the ST as i love it to much!

How many miles are you doing in your corsa to fill up that often? Driving around town using all the gears without too much heavy acceleration I can see around 23-24mpg and on a motorway journey ive seen up to 39mpg but this was about 65mph and a very steady foot for about 2 hours. With average town driving my trip usually sits about 21mpg ish but depends if ive had a good day or not

Good luck with your decision but I think everyone on here will tell you to make the switch

Why not keep both? we have an old Ka for commuting and the ST for weekends.

Have now done around 2k miles since buying her late October and are averaging 25mpg, most of this is local driving with a couple of motorway blasts - pretty good if you ask me.

I think i made my mind up, going to have a look around and see wat deals i could get...cheers

400 miles in the ST amounts to about £100 of petrol lol and i'm not kidding! you can deffo get 30mpg on the motorway without trying too hard.

yea dnt ge tme wrong they handle realy well and have got the looks. But i fink the thing thats put me off is the constant trouble with it, eg the cooling, engine management lights, and although u can tune them via thorney motorsport and stil keep the warranty i couldnt imagine it to be nothing but trouble. Plus im influenced by the Dad and Grandad who havnt got a bad word to say about Ford and never seem to have a problem with them

i had a fiesta st before the focus and that never gave me any trouble in the 18 months i owned it, ive had my focus 3 months now and touch wood ive not had any trouble yet so they are pretty reliable i think. depends on the car though, maybe u got a dud corsa!

also if you get a good dealer the customer service is good. i had the fez st brand new and had a few bits on done on warrenty and they never argued they just done it.

Make the change mate - as long as you can live with 22mpg most of the time then you will love it! if you cant live with it using petrol, dont buy one.

I'd never even sat in a focus untill one tuesday when i test drove a 07 ST2 SEA GREY MOUNTUNE 260BHP FOCUS, it was bought by the wednesday. I've now had it 6 weeks and love it! I put v-power in her and i get 250 miles for £65.00 not cheap but you only live once! Go for it

How odd - I just registered to ask almost exactly the same question.

I currently have a 2008 Corsa VXR, and situations changing dictates that I really need a five door.

The only thing that worries me is because I don't really want to spend much (if any) money when changing the car, I'll have to opt for a 2006/2007 model - which means going from 20 months warranty left to having to warranty whatsoever.

One question however, what the hell is the 2.5, I understand from the sticky what the ST2 and ST3 are, is the 2.5 the ST2 with Leather?
