I have had 3 cars stolen in the past, the first 2 i got back and regretted it both times, lesson learned, by the time my 3rd car was to be repaired i refused point blank to take it back and within days the engine apparently gave up big time.

So, my answer is NO!!!
this is what ive been thinking id like to have it back and on the other hand i dont as i know its goin to have been abused and i dont think it will be the same as it was b4 for it was stolen
NEVER would i accept a stolen car back ,you dont know whats been going on with it whilst not with yourself ,also as this would go on the register as being stolen recoverd "i think im corect"it would surely de value the car so youd be takeing back a car you had no clue as to what the engines like and also be worth less in value than before !
heard some real horror storys about people takeing there stolen vehicles back and as has been said the engine blowing up ,my advice dont take it back my friend .
SIMPLES !!

Personally I wouldn't want a car back if it had been stolen - I guess it would feel a bit like soiled goods if you know what I mean.

That said, do you actually get a choice of if you have it back or not when it has been stolen?
For all you know whoever stole it could have been bouncing it off the rev limiter for hours...could have seriously worn the clutch, tyres etc. All this could cost you a lot more in the long run which is not fair as you have done nothing wrong! I would say no way!

IMO.
thing is if the insurance decide to fix the car u dont have any choice but to take it back if i get mine back i think ill just get rid of it and get a new 1 as for me i cant see it being the same even after it has all been repaired
i wouldn't want it back like some have said it'll instantly depreciate by probably 50% and it'll most likely be knakered anyway

If I had the choice then no, I would never want a stolen car back.

if i was to get the car back it would still be worth the same as if it wasnt stolen as it doesnt go down as a stolen recovered it only goes down as a catD if the insurance has paid out for a total loss which at the moment is not the case car is having a new oil sump fitted and then its off to ford to do there checks on it to see if the engine is
if it is then its a write off if its ok then they will fix it hopefully it will be
then i can get a new 1

would people feel the same if they had badly crashed there car and the insurance said they will fix it would u not want that back??

you need to decide if your wanting the car back ,im sure it goes down on the police register as stolen recoverd as ive had some salvage cars that came back in the checks i used to have done before purchasing them as stolen recoverd -not total loss !
id just stand my ground and say im not wanting it back full stop .
perhaps worth sending storm a rep on here a pm to see what light he can shed on the question of the car going on the police list as stolen recoverd as if it does "and they used to not so long ago"then the vehicle will be worth quite a bit less than book price due to it being on the register.
good luck with this mate hope turns out how youd like it to .
I think it depends.

If the car has obvious damage when recovered and has been 'missing' for some time then no I wouldn't want it back.

However, I understand now that very often nicer stuff is stolen with the keys and then parked up a few miles away and left overnight / a few days to see whether it has a tracker fitted. If that was the case and the car was recovered within a few hours then I would be happier to have it back safe in the knowledge that it's unlikely any lasting damage has been done to the oily bits...

if the car is repaired it doesnt go down as a stolen recovered it only goes down as stolen recovered if the insurance pays out to u for a total loss and then the car is found and repair after they have payed u out it goes down as a stolen recovered. salvage is where the insurance would send the car after its has been found/writen off thats y it would come back as cat D stolen recovered

I can confirm that the car would go down on MIAFTR as stolen & recovered (and therefore would show up on any HPI/Experian checks, regardless of whether there is/was any damage to the car when recovered. After all it is a stolen and recovered car, so has to be recorded as such.

Unfortunately, I work for an Insurance Company, in the Motor Claims department.

i was told by my insurance company that its only counted as stolen recovered if the car is not found and they pay out for a total loss and then if its found after they have payed out then it is recorded as a stolen recovered but if they dont pay out for a total loss then its just handed back to u as long as its not damaged if its damaged they fix it but it only goes down as a claim.

If u are right in what u say y would my insurance company tell me other wise??
