im thinking of selling my daily driver 2016 focus st3 and going for the mk4 version,the only thing ive never liked about the mk3 is the poor turning circle,ive read the mk4 is much improved,has anyone had both and is it really a lot better? thanks for any feedback

I think ford adressed the poor steering lock on later models of the mk3.5, my 17 plate was much better than my previous one

One thing is for sure, the mk4 is a damn sight uglier, at least you don’t have to look at it when you’re driving it, I guess. 😆

im suprised nobodys owned a mk3 and mk4 to give me a definate answer then, yes the mk4 isnt the best looking but has grown on me over the years

The published figures suggest the improvement is small.
Mk3=11m
Mk4=10.7m

I’ve owned both mk3.5 and mk4. Turning circle is much better on mk4.

Mk4 is much nicer inside. The Mk4 dashboard is a vast improvement on the Mk3's hotch potch affair.

Having owned a mk3 and now a mk4 (not ugly imo 🤪) I havnt noticed any difference

My Mk3.5 was a 2015, perhaps they fixed it in later years?

For the ST, the turning circle of the Mk3/3.5 (at least up to 2015) is 12m kerb-to-kerb. The Mk4 ST is 11.3m kerb-to-kerb.

That's according to the press kit tech specs I got from Ford for each car at the time of order.

thanks ive just been looking at parkers spec lists for each model [st specific] and they state 12m for the mk3 and 10m or the mk4 so i they are correct thats a big difference

In typical fashion. Ford are inconsistent across their literature.
Mine are from the tech sheets and different.

Volunteer Mk3 and 4 driver required to drive in a tight circle and measure the diameter!
