Standard St Clutch Or Uprated??

Bought myself a DS and put DSci map on today and absolutely loved every minute
however.. after a few miles of hard driving the clutch doesn't seem to agree..
it now slips badly in 4th 5th and 6th and got progressively worse in the short space of time I was out, I know reading other threads this is common and only seems to be certain model years, so my question is if I bought the standard
clutch am I likely to have the same problem (can it just not handle that power) or is it because the car has done 28k miles and its starting to wear anyways, I know in an ideal world the RS clutch would be the one to go for or an uprated one but im just looking for it not to slip...

As always all advice is much appreciated!!

Is it possible to fit a facelift clutch to a pre facelift model?
glad it not just me!!!

funny thing is, now i run modB...it doesnt slip as bad as dsci!!!!

strange
the facelift /pre facelift clutch are identical - its only the 07 reg ones that seem to suffer with a weak batch of clutches.

the best bet is to fit the new focus RS clutch kit, it is a direct bolt on with no mods required, is cheaper than the ST one and can handle more power/torque = no brainer.

As Dave has said the RS clutch is cheaper to buy and the same price to fit! Ive just had one fitted and difference in pedal feel is minimal! I would definitely recommend this instead of another ST clutch!

mine slips now and again,so when it becomes unbearable i'll be up to Profile for a RS one.
hopefully it'll last a good few months to come,so i can save up

Gaz,

Glad you like the DS. Bet you've been driving around all weekend.

I had the same problem with my clutch and tried many different maps to no avail. In the end the only way to go was replacing the clutch. RS one is the way forward and isn't much different in feel to the ST. After having it fitted I can't believe I put up with the old one for so long.

Get onto Gary at Profile (it's not a million miles away from you) and you won't look back.

Phil,

Cheers!! Haven't tried Race plus yet, (saving that one for when it's dry) the DS has certainly ironed out issues i had with the map before it's just the clutch doesn't like it as much as i do lol

Thanks again

No probs mate, if you're ever in the area give me a shout and you can try out the RS clutch and Quaiffe LSD.

Enjoy!
Ive got an 07 and hardly get any slip at all running Mod C. I got it a lot more when i was running the Race + map. Strange lol. If i were to change the clutch, as others have said id go for the RS one. If its better and cheaper then why not lol.
