St500 Prices

well I must have priced my car right - as very little interest at £16k then £14950 - I drop it to £14495 and had 4 enquiries in 2 days.

trouble is not sure I really want to sell it now - Its stored mainly - so last weekend I took it for little drive to get some 97 RON (daft as someone will get 3/4 tank petrol if they buy it soon) - then washed it again, polished it again, cleaned the exhausts, door shuts etc. and put it away in the garage under its Sahara cover.

Now I'm looking forward to getting it out again - and worried when I take someone for a test drive I will regret it.

oh um - decisions decisions.

Thats if anyone turns up to view - been here before when selling other cars - so not holding my breath.

Moral of the story = - there is still people buying - or at least interested in buying.

cheers David

If it's any help, I brought my 57 plate (Dec 07) ST500 in june for £12,500 with 17k on the clock.

It's got factory sat-nav, reversing sensors and the dual zone climate (which I think comes with the sat-nav) and heated seats (not sure if these are standard equipment or not)

I guess it's probably worth about £11,000 or so now with 24k on it.

If someones offering you 14450 for it then I would bite their arm off for it to be honest.

Hello

h'otter - at £12.5k I think you got a bargain - depending on condition and where/how you purchased it - but mine priced about right then £14k with 6000 miles.

Ronnie - I dont agree - all IMHO - I have turned down £13k trade buyer- I think the ST500 (being the only factory limitied edition MK2 focus) will hold good values - even more so when the current ST facelifted or not expires.
I know its not everyones cup of tea and it didnt have performance increase - but it still is what it is.
I personally think the fact that there are loads of ST2/3's about and that they are still being made lowers the ST500 value a bit.

Limited edition cars throughout the years are always the most sought after - especially when the range is no longer available.

this is all in my humble opinion as I am no doubt biased - being the owner of a mint ST500 - which I will happily keep if no-one wants it at the moment.
as always you get what you pay for -there are no free lunches.

I understand what your saying about the Limted Editions etc.

But i thought you be interested in a buyers opinion, i'm currently looking for a ST, and as someone who is relatively new to Fords, the ST500 just seems to have stripes over the top. You'll proberbly correct me with the differences, but personally they seem over priced for what they are!

I fully understand that a mint car is worth more though i've always bought cars that nearer the top end of the price range as i'm a firm believer of the "you get what you pay for" statement! Cheap cars are cheap for a reason imo

The ST-500 also has red leather seats. One thing that would hold up the value of them is that many of them come fully loaded with climate control, automatic headlights and wipers as well as other options.
Hello David,I was in a Ford dealers yesterday and there was a 57 plate ST500 for £13995 although I did not check the mileage the car was unmarked,as Ronnie has already said if someone offers you that price or more for your car in a private sale I too would pull there arm off

dont forget (as I also used to sell new and used cars at a main dealer) the forecourt price is one thing - when you add tax, pdi, a service, finance charges etc etc. you rarely get it at the sticker price.
when I bought my St500 - the ford dealer had an 8 month old ST2 in white advertised at £15995 - when we tried to buy it - the price was nearer £18k (totally honest) - he had added GAP insurance, service, tax, etc.etc. - after 3 attempts with his 'boss - controller' the price came down to £16,500 - needless to say I left without it.

dealers are masters at the hidden extras.

the one at the scottish dealer maybe the one that was advertised recently and it had something like 50k+ miles - hence cheap price - most are priced by ford and other dealers at £15-16k + check for yourself on autotrader/pistonheads etc.

I have been monitoring prices for the last 6month umming and erring at whether to sell so I think I have a pretty good feel for what prices are about - but it all comes down to what you want - red, black, white or pink with spots.

Dagenham D. where did you buy your car from if you dont mind me asking - and what do you describe as rough at 8k miles ? just interested thats all.

cheers David

I thought so too! It needed two front tyres but other than that was spot on body wise and had been serviced on time at a Ford dealers. (Touch wood) I've not had any problems with it at all.

It was from a car supermarket type place and had been part-x'd in against something more fuel efficent and family friendly. They rely on turnover of cars as opposed to profit and just wanted rid of something which only does 20's on the mpgometer and doesn't fit in with the diesel rep mobiles they usually stock.

webuyanycar.com (which I realise isn't all that accurate) are offering me £10,675 for it as of today.
there is currently one on stock through my works thats on a 08 reg with 12.000 mls with auto lights and wipers and its £16.500

Yeah you are correct mate,I did not check the mileage at the time...

I have just checked the website and it has moon miles,42000 on a 57 plate would explain why it is a bit cheaper than the norm

Hi Mate, The car was a private sale, it had dents on the doors, n/s/1/4 panel a few scratchs here and there it needed two front tyres and all four wheels needed to be referbed (one carefull lady owner) but apart from that the cars alright. Lol.

David,

I see what you are saying but as someone that has bought many many many new cars (30+ at the last count) I also know the system backwards (also been offered 4 jobs), I agree you never get the sticker price but hell you NEVER EVER pay it, you NEVER get GAP from a dealer, and all the other addons they claim you need.
The finance is the only tricky thing you have to watch as that can bump the price of the car up, I have seen it where a normal 9k car ended up nearly double due to the buyer was happy paying X for the next 6 years !
.

I am sure your car is lovely, and yes there is a buyer for every car however you might wait a day or end up waiting months for that person to pay you what you want for the car.

Personally I think its a nice car ST500 but we all know its an ST3 with Red seats and stickers and a badge. There are too many facelifted St3s out on the market at the moment which is making the limited car not as attractive as it should have been.

I really really hope you sell your car at the price you are happy with
