not got a problem withe my st170 traction control, i just want to know how it works, or more what it does.

i know that when the wheels spin, the yellow light on the dash comes on and when the button on the centre console is pressed the light comes on, but when the light is on, what is happening? are revs been cut? or just limited?

please explain.

From memory ( and it's a few years back now....) if you've pressed the button on the console, the ESP is off and the light is on the dash to warn you that it's off.

When the button flashes during usual driing the ECU will do some trickery to cut power and at the same time it individually operates the brkes on whichever wheel it decides needs slowing down to get the car back under control. I don't think it limits revs as such, more like it alters ignition and fuel injector signals to reduce power.
