Had a nasty shock when I went out to my car yesterday morning - some lowlife has smashed my rear window and nearside rear light. It looks like they've hit both with a hammer or something similar. Rear window was mainly intact save for small, say 1.5" round hole in bottom left area but all crazed and fell to bits when boot & car doors opened / closed. You'd hope these people would have something better to do on the night of Christmas day than vandalise cars. Have reported it to the police but doubt I'll hear any more about it. Hopefully the law will catch up with them eventually.

Insurers recommended glass fitter came out promptly on boxing day to fit a new rear screen - cost £70. Rear spoiler and plastic internal boot trim panels had to come off for the new screen to be bonded in. Hopefully it will all be ok - chap said these cold conditions are not ideal for the glue curing.

Any recommendations on where to get a new rear light unit from. My car is an 07 ST2 3 door. Anyone know what a Ford delaer would charge? My initial research on the internet shows a firm called AEP Direct do units for £37.56 plus £7.48 postage. The firm says that "At AEP Direct we only use top quality 'branded car parts' which are the same as the manufacturer." http://www.aepdirect.com/index.php?option=...product_id=2965 They only list it as being suitable for the standard Focus though - no reference given to ST. Am I right in thinking that all rear lights for 3 and 5 door pre facelift models are the same?

It really annoys me that people do this sort of thing. I had a similar but not quite as bad experience a few years ago when my previous car (Focus 2.0 Zetec) had one of it's tyres slashed. Both incidents have happened in supposedly good residential areas. Annoyingly the ST was parked on the public street as the recent snowfall meant parking in the usual place would have been very tricky (had to dig my way out a couple of days previously) - anyone else find that their ST's fat tyres have very poor traction in ice and snow?

Hope all you fellow ST owners are having a happy Christmas and have a good and lowlife free new year.

Hi,
Sorry to hear of your problem. Scumbags!
I'd check out ebay for a second hand one, at leat you know its a genuine part. I've added some links which may be useful. I don't think there is any difference between 3 door and 5 door light units but I expect someone will be able to confirm this for certain.
Regards,
Lizzy

P.S. Just noticed that the last one has actually come off an ST.

Thanks for all the supportive comments and the suggestions on rear lights / where to look for a new one.

Hopefully the ST will be back to its usual rude health again soon!
