Rs Airbox

I seem to remember someone posting the cost of the RS induction parts.

Now either the search facility or my search skills are p1ss poor.

Can anyone find this thread please?

Interested in using the RS airbox & ecu mounting but with the ST induction pipe.

Found those cheers.

Thought someone had listed the RS airbox costs etc.

Could be wrong...........
I'm thinking there's not much point in going to the RS airbox myself. Basically this seems to be an obvious restriction on the RS itself and people are either leaving the lid off or cutting loads of holes in it.

Take a peek on some of the RS forums for more info perhaps?
Not sure about GGR's statement about their airbox.

"The 'self-compensation' of the standard management system means that there is no measureable power increase on a standard car"

Surely 3.5% more air = more power?

Or the standard set-up is pretty good!

Anyone running the RS with the lid off or drilled dyno'd the supposed improvement?

If this is ok on the RS can't see why the following should'nt be ok on the ST then.

Surely if GGR could claim power gains for their airbox they would? So bearing in mind the seriously complicated ways that standard ECU maps seem to work these days, working to torque targets (ref DS mapping article in Perf Ford) it's possible the ECU reigns in other settings that prevent the extra airflow giving a power increase.

Pumabuild quote better dyno figures in a magazine article once they ran an RS with the airbox lid off, seen the same with a Wolf car run on the dyno at Collins too. Poss gains of 15 to 20 bhp seen iirc. Problem is compounded by the flexi-pipe from the airbox collapsing due to the vaccum created when the standard RS set-up can't flow enough air. After all the RS airbox is the same as the basic Focus, with a secondary air intake feeding into it.

I've been running a similar set-up to Glenn for some time now but modified the K&N Gen 2 pipework so the filter is still located in the wheelarch area.

Wouldn't you be able use pumabuild's air box and filter with a hose instead of the fexipipe that the rs uses

The gains with airbox mods are on remapped RS's as far as I know. Think in some cases owners are getting better performance with open airboxes cos the intake pipe can collapse in some circumstances on the standard car, preventing full perfomance being obtained. Though there is now also an updated calibration from Ford for hesitation/running issues which may be related.
