Refitting Original Exhaust

238 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Steve
I have ordered a new ST and so am considering having the Magnex Cat back removed from my current motor as its only 18 months old, and have the original exhaust fitted.
I have had a look at the original and the rear box has two rubber mountings still attached, I seem to remember there being some brackets and bolts given to me but can't see them. Should I have some extra pieces and will I need anything other than a sleeve and clamps to have it fitted?
Do you agree its worth it rather than paying for a new one?

Certainly makes sense to keep hold of your Magnex and fit onto your next ST, you're unlikely to get more for the car with it left on and your standard exhaust isn't worth anywhere near as much if you were to try and sell it.

Your standard backbox should have 2 metal hanger brackets which bolt to the rear underbody for you to hang the exhaust rubbers from. You might have also been the bolts for fixing the brackets to the underbody but they're simply M8 bolts and you should be able to re-use whatever's holding the Magnex mounting plates.

You can see them in the photo of this system on ebay

Wasnt the exhaust cut to get it off? If so you will also need a sleeve to go over the joint!

Yes you are right, the Part numbers supplied by Tony some time ago

(You can use sleeve 1048511 and 2 clamps 1096830 of a ST170 to rejoin the 2 together.)

thanks for the help
