Hi All,

Apologies if this has already been covered in another thread but is it possible to fit the front and rear bumpers and wheels from a Mk3 Focus Zetec S onto a Mk3 Focus ST, or are there additional mounting points etc. that would foul on the Zetec bumpers? (note this is a 2014 Mk3 and NOT a Mk 3.5)

I'm considering this due to the amount of ST thefts in my area and wondered if it might act as a sufficient distraction/obfuscation to ensure that the car doesn't get picked out/targeted as an ST...at least from a distance anyway....

I'm pretty sure it's been done the other way around but there was mention of additional standoffs/brackets being involved.

Also, if this were theoretically possible, would the tailpipe foul on the grill/cutout section on the Zetec S bumper? It looks almost like it might work but I have my doubts.....

Seems like a lot of effort and expense when you could get an Autowatch Ghost immobiliser fitted for £500. The Mk3 ST has a central exhaust, pretty sure the Zetec S doesn't and that's just for starters. You'd probably also incur extra insurance costs for the modifications.

Yes, that's something I would likely do anyway; it's more about discouraging the attempted theft in the first place.

I have a mate who would do the painting as a favour so cost would not be too bad; I'm more interested in whether it would be theoretically possible; the zetec rear bumper has a rather unique lip/wing with a small grille exactly where the ST exhaust sits which is why I'd thought there was a slim chance it might work.

In my personal opinion too many people worry about having their car stolen. If it's going to happen it's going to happen. Fit some decent security and enjoy your car - is someone is determined enough to take it they will. Life's too short - worrying doesn't solve tomorrow's problems, it steals today's peace (as I saw written somewhere).

As above I wouldn't bother trying to un-ST the ST. Why ruin it for yourself? Fit some good security as most thefts are opportunist & they will move to an easier car if they see yours is protected. A professional thief will not be put off by cosmetic alterations & will just take your car anyway knowing what it is underneath!
As an example a friend of mine many many years ago had a very nice Cossie. With all the the thefts in the area he did just what you are thinking of doing to his Cossie. He came back after a week's holiday & opened his garage to find his car gone, all the non Cossie bits in a nice tidy pile in the corner - and all the actual Cossie bits he had removed & stored safely in the roof of his garage all gone..........................

Wow 😂 Well I think its safe to say that's put me off the idea altogether. That is just ice cold 🤣🤣
