I have a 2008 ST-3 which has only done 10,000miles. Usually when I stop the engine there is a slight whine which I believe is the power steering pump stoppping. I noticed last night that this whine has become much higher pitched and doesn't sound too healthy is this likely the pump on the way out? I see there has obviously been a lot of power steering problems, but is the pump a common problem? I have also noticed that there is hardly any fluid in the power steering fluid resevoir, but it has just been serviced, is it normal for it be be extremely low, as I can't see a minimum mark on the tank, Any advice would be appretiated.

Hi Alex

It is normal for the powersteering pump to give a high pitch wine.

It is also normal for the fluid tank to be almost empty - the max mark is approx 20mm from the bottom of the white part of the tank

The max/min arrows are on the left hand side of the tank

Thanks

It has always whined when I turn the engine off, just recently it hasn't sounded quite the the same, was just wondering if there were any common faults I should be looking out for.
