Strange one this.

On page 183 of my user manual it says that no fluid level checks are necessary on the following engines.........'lists a load of engines' and includes the 2.5. duratec ST. is this right? cannot understand it really.

also, my fluid level looks quite low, about 1cm in the bottom. is this normal?

car is an 08 with 12k.

any help appreciated.

Considering how the earlier ST's used to barf all their power steering fluid on the floor that
in the handbook about 'no fluid checks necessary' is pretty misleading to say the least

My fluid level sits on the upper level mark on the reservoir - if you're worried about it where it is then either top it up to the mark or leave it where it is, and check it every few days in case it's dropping slowly. You need to check it with the engine cold as the fluid expands when hot and gives a false reading.
