Possible electrical fault

So I was driving home today and the immobiliser light was flashing whilst driving, the radio sounded like a skipping CD, the window struggled to do up and the center pod gauges were all over the place. The central locking locked whilst driving and then I had a quick key not detected message whilst driving. I managed to get the car home but couldn't turn the car off on the push button, I lifted the bonnet and it sounded like there was a clicking from the fuse box. Rightly or wrongly I pulled the kam fuse and the engine cut out and a power steering fault message came up. The car is now sat with the ignition still on but the push start button isnt doing anything also the car isnt registering the key fob.
Does any one have any idea what has gone wrong, any help would be much appreciated.

Start by completely disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for a while.
A full reset may sort it out.
Check the battery voltage while you are at it.
Ok thanks alb I will try this first. How long would you call awhile.
Ok took the terminal off and now car seems back to normal. Battery charge is also ok.
Is there anything else that I should be looking out for as too why this happened?
Thanks for the help it's much appreciated.

Check the earthing / mass of the electric cables to the car body for rust and stuff...

My old Mk2 got some weird electrical gremlins & it turned out to be the earth points on the front chassis rails up behind the headlights had corroded. I also had a dodgy earth on the ECU housing where I had moved the ECU to make way for the CAIS. Quick clean & reattach & it was good.

Good tips above but you do sometimes get glitches for reasons that just cannot be established. Often as not it never happens again.

It is a car - and a Ford - to boot!!!!
Immobiliser flashing, pod gauges dancing and power steering fault are classic signs of instrument cluster failure. If it has not been repaired already, I'd get it done. With the warm weather at the moment, the solder is cracking and causes electrical gremlins. Happened to me last summer, repaired and all fine since. In rare cases, if the cluster completely fails, you lose all power, engine, brakes, everything. Other messages to watch are engine systems fault and traction control fault.
