Parts For Sale Forum. Just Not Working In New Format

Do you really think the changes to the parts for sale forum are working.
I sent two Pm's yesterday and have recieved no answers and have no idea if the guy has sold his stuff or has not checked his mail

In fact if you just check the first page there are twenty five posts and only ONE ITEM is show as sold.

Can we please go back to how it was. I know it was not perfect but it was a whole lot better than it is now.

Comments from other members ?

You can use the "Track this message" to keep an eye on when it has been seen, should help you a bit?
i agree the old way was better, said last week sometime thers loads of items sitting in the for sale section and no one knows if there sold or not due to the sellers not putting "sold" on there original posts ,theres also people posting items for sale in regional forums etc etc and some have posted three times in differant sections for the same items !!
old way was better guys ,or has anyone else got any suggestions ??
I'm sorry the Format of the For Sale Section is not changing

For the Majority - this new system has worked 100% and has increased the communication between buyer and seller (and sellers have been actively marking their topic titles ***Sold***).

Just because someone has not been online/does not reply to your PM does not automatically mean the system is not working?

From the outset you already have more chance of the Seller noticing and replying to a PM (As they are sent an email to notify them they have one) and it will automatically come up on their screen when they log into the site. Whereas before - they would have to go to the effort of logging into their thread in the For Sale Section and Checking it.

I think in this instance, it could just simply be the people have not logged into the site?

As someone above has already said, you can tick the 'Track' message button at the bottom of the PM. Then you will be able to see the status of the PM.

still dosent resolve the problem of buyers being aware the item is sold/still for sale though does it marc??

this needs sorting as its no good keep sending /recieving PMs etc etc for items that are no longer available ,you need to get the seller to put SOLD/STILL available on the posts and keep an eye for people posting in wrong sections just to try and sell there items .
i dont like the new sytem at all mate as youv probally gatherd marc

Maybe you could add a link to your 'For Sale thread' in your signature, that way everytime you post people will see you have items for sale?

To be honest, I prefer the new "For Sale" system. It is a lot more clean and simple. There used to be a lot of replies to "for sales" threads and on a lot of occasions it would detract from the orginal post, then admins and staff would have to come in and clean up the thread.

Agreed, anyone selling items does need to keep it updated but other than that I think it works well

If someone can't be bothered taking two seconds to edit their post once their done to show the item is sold, I have no sympathy on that person's inbox filling up with prospective enquiries.

I know I keep saying it, but there will be a new 'system' rolled out when the new software comes on-line and the For Sale Sections will change again slightly for the better.

I am not going to say too much at this stage - but I believe the For Sale threads will become 'time restricted' e.g. in an auction style format.

Sorry that there are one or two individuals who aren't happy with the current setup, but there are way more people who are satisfied than dis-satisfied.

Not to mention the massive reduction in workload for all the staff as people aren't continually complaining that their "for sale" topic has been hijacked.
all it would take is the seller to put SOLD/STILL available and i think it would be a bit better as you say people cant be botherd ,lets hope this new sytem works better

One would always hope that a 'new' system would work better than the previous system is it replacing

Sorry Mark but there is no way that sellers have been marking there items as sold. As i siad there is 25 posts and only one marked as sold. In fact to prove my point I got a PM back today saying then item was sold already. So waste of mine and the sellers time !!!
