Parking Sensor Problem

Heh all.
Since last night my 08 facelift
has developed an issue when going into reverse gear.

The reverse sensor tone will make a solid noise for about 5 seconds and then stop.

Any objects behind me are not picked up by the sensors.

Any reverse gear shifts after that will not emit any noise at all until the ignition is switched back on again.

CERTAIN that no one has given me a knock in the rear
, could it be a water thing going by the amount of rain we have had over the past few days.

Any checks i can run or is it time for my first ever dealer visit since purchase in September this year?

Thanks.

Take it to the dealer mate , I had some issue with my sensors either. There was some reversing light switch fault, repaired on warranty with no problem. Dont waste time to do it yourself specially when your car is so new. Good luck!

yup, take it to the dealers, I had mine done recently under warranty.. just, it was about a week before the warranty ran out! in fact as they had to order the bits it was actually out of warranty when the work was done

This has just started happening to mine this last week. Mine is out of warranty so am going to investigate myself when everywhere dries out.
it will more than likely be a faulty sensor, its just a case of finding what one it is

This may sound daft but i had an issue such as this and before i took a trip to the dealers i checked the sensors, and i found that there was quite a build up of wax around them from where i had cleaning the car, so carefully removed the excess and hey ho all is ok

Worth a try

A nice dry suface this morning so got under the back of the car and fiddled with all 4 sensors and the wiring. Quite easy to get to. As mentioned in previous post I too cleaned around the sensors. Ignition on and into reverse. Went to rear and moved my hand infront of each sensor and all seems well again. Tried it reversing up to a wall and everything working well.

Defo a water related issue.
The ONE dry day we have here in the SE and when reversing onto my drive after a spin around the M25 they kicked in!!

Went out later that night, guess what, it was raining again! They played up once more.

Hopefully we will have a dry day again soon and it is not dark where i will have the time to check the connections out!!!
Am i hoping to much for a dry weekend!!
