Somewhere between min and max ;)

If you wipe it clean then reinsert after the cars been stationary for a while, it should be somewhere within those X's.

If that's what you did, it's a little bit high. Ideally drain some out as it's not good for the engine, but it's not massively overfilled so I wouldn't worry too much.

As for colour, it's not fresh but it's ok. Some would change it out now but you're good for a bit longer yet

If they just dropped the oil without giving it time to drain, or didn't change the filter it wouldn't look clean after a service because it wasn't done properly.

Fresh oil is much lighter that that. As long as you're not running hot it's unlikely "something" is darkening the oil.

Still having dirty oil in the filter/around the engine to mix and contaminate the new oil is the most likely.

Poor compression and escaping exhaust gases I think is another reason for it to go like that (unlikely)

Running hot aka no coolant I think is another option.

Or possibly just doing a fair few miles since the service

I use Castrol magnetic 5w30 A5

When ever I've had garage supplied oil (other than ford) it's lasted 6 months and I've wanted to change it.

That stuff makes it through the service interval.

Though again some people would change every 6 months anyway. If the oil is clean and doing it's job I don't see the point
