Well having had the 5 pot itch to scratch I finally bought an ST2. I decided to go the already modified route, having drove a standard version that was flat and boring.
I’ve had it since July, stuck a KMS cat back on it, new rear discs n pads as well as replacing the bonnet lock.
Just not feeling it, it’s not me.
I’ve been browsing classified adds within weeks of buying it, which says a lot

Quite a few forum newbies are selling on just after 2-3 months of ownership...
For over a decade it is written everywhere hundreds of reviews of the ST. Which flaws it has and what are the running costs... Aaaaand
as the cars are getting older things do not change for the better... No miracles here...

Sometime people's expectations can never be matched by the car. I remember test driving my ST and it not feeling as fast as I expected when compared to my 2.0 Mk2 Focus. I stuck with it though and after 9 years I'm glad I did.

What I'm saying is: Give it a bit more time...

Each to their own I guess, at least you’ve tried it and found out first hand, so I take my hat off to you for that, so are you normally a jap or German car man maybe?

It’s a weekend toy. Fuel and replacing stuff don’t bother me in the slightest. I’ve had corvettes, numerous other old “ yanks” and most recently a vxr8 @ 13 mpg….. so running costs don’t even become a factor.
the fact I have just come from a very nice Audi ( got bored with it) to the ST, prob spoilt by interior quality and kit.

it will be back for sale soon as I find something else
