I seem to have experienced 2 of the pain in the
"common faults" today!

My neighbour informed me that my reverse light was out so i changed the bulb and it still didnt work so i searched on here and found out that it could be either the reverse switch or the plug hadnt been put back on from when i had my RS clutch fitted.
But it turned out to be the common reverse switch.

Phoned Ford and was quoted £13.33 +vat.

Shut the bonnet, locked the car but the indicators never flashed and then the alarm started going off and bonnet open is on my display!
Did another search and its the other common fault of the chuffin bonnet latch/mechanism.
Somebody on here mentioned something about £55 +vat for it.

Safe to say im on my
from obscene spending over crimbo and ive also just forked out for discs and pads all round on my X-Type so the ST can bite me and sit there with the face on for a couple of weeks till i get paid again!

Any more "common faults" ive got to look forward to?

Bad luck fella.

Other faults include (but are not limited to):

Oil diaphragm splitting
Symposer diaphragm splitting
Side skirts start to come away from the body
Rear bumper rubs against the wheel arches, causing patches of rust which you might not actually see.
Slippy clutches
Cracked liners

They say bad luck comes in threes......

Doesn't all that bad to me tbh, stuff breaks, at least they're not expensive bits like an alternator, maf sensor etc

Well I've just had to buy a new oil diaphragm due to that failing.
Passenger side skirt has slightly come away.
Lacquer peel on both sides of my rear bumper.
And I've not long since had an RS clutch kit fitted due to the old one pooping itself every time I put my foot down in 5th or 6th gear.

Looks like I've still got a fair few more to look forward too! Lol

[sup]I can make you feel better[/sup]

[sup]i spent 2 days between christmas and new year replacing the head gasket on my S3 because the thermostat had failed and caused it to blow on the drive upto manchester.[/sup]

[sup]Still, £150 in parts was better than paying a specialist the quoted £550[/sup]
