I'm after a netbook (mini laptop) for my car, so can use the dreamscience DSCI maps and data logging, mainly the data logging. I know they don't come with a CD drive so ill have to use a external CD drive. I don't want a laptop, just for size of them, want something small and compact. It needs to run windows XP.

I have been looking at them, just undecided.

Can anyone recommend 1 and which 1's to avoid? looking to pay between £200 to £250.

Any help would be great

they seem good these netbooks, ive seen some with like 8hrs battery life aswell.

If i didnt have my normal size laptop id buy one. The screen keeps flickering so it might not be too long!

Id have a gander round PC World mate. I think Acer seem to be one of the main competitors.

We use Samsung NC10 netbooks at our company. They are reasonable value for money. Windows XP, 1GB RAM, 160GB Hard disk, and they look cool in the Sansung black. You can get them for around £230 at Currys, Dixons, PC World etc.

Be wary of the Asus type cheaper brands, as they come with a Linux based OS and Solid state drives, which is essentially a memory card. They are reasonably quick, but the memory cards are only 32Gb.

Dell also do a 10inch netbook, The New Mini 10 which looks pretty good. They have a battery life of around 6hrs.
You can get some of these netbooks free if you take mobile broadband from around £25/month.

Hope this helps
