Update. I agree with the comments regarding individual choice on the drive modes. Others do but Ford short changed us again. I want the sport engine setting but definitely not the suspension or steering setting that goes with it. Can throw those away, totally pointless unless you like discomfort for fun. I suspect the FL will get it along with lcd dash if not before along with the amp removing from the boot. Not that I like digital dashs no.

Hi All. Not been on a forum before so bare with me. Had my car for 2 months now and have had in service for 2 weeks with an electrical module failure. It controls the adaptive suspension, adaptive lights and drive modes. Ford have sent over a new module but cant program it as Ford dont have the software available. Thought I would give the heads up in case they finally fix it and there is a mass recall. No timeline on when it will be fixed either.

This is probably the first time reported here, is that a common problem?
Hopefully they can sort it out for you quickly, it's annoying and painful to have a brand new car stuck in a dealer with problems.

Been trying mine on Sport setting, throttle response is much better than normal setting and rev matching is great. But ride is awful, unbearable on local rough roads (at least as bad as mk3 on 19s) and piped noise is even worse. Desperately want sport throttle with normal suspension without the racket . Think it will be close to a perfect drive then. Hope someone comes up with the option if sport throttle, normal suspension without the noise soon. Got my order if they do.

Can anyone tell me how to get the ST shift light to show, the one on the same section of dash as the rev counter not the standard shift number in the middle screen.

Switched my MK3.5 for a MK4, still miss the drive of my MK2 though.

Not an owner review exactly, but after having two Mk3.5 ST's the guy living opposite has just bought a Mk4 ST - Line !

I wonder why no full-fat ST ? Maybe 'cos the ST-Line costs a lot less and looks near identical ...

I totally agree with you looking nearly identical as a St Line. But when it comes down to it they are 2 very different animals. I like my ST coz it doesn't stand out, if I wanted something that did I would look at something like the Civic type R. But everyone likes different things, im an older gent approaching 50 so it suites me 👍

The bloke opposite is a family man and I think more of a poser-type and not a fast-driver type.

Both of his 2017 & 2018 Mk3.5's were ST-3's and fully-specced with tints and red brakes etc, and they never looked anything but immaculately clean.

Those ST's certainly looked the part and very different to a boggo Mk3. But for a Mk4 it seems he's satisfied with the look-alike.

They look as much like standard cars as previous models. They will as they are the same basic car just as previous. But they are like chalk and cheese, an ST line will depreciate far more heavily and be far less desirable, always. Not a move I would ever have considered. Would have bought another make, a good few before a ST Line.

But what if you were buying a new Mk4 mainly for its looks. Would you still buy an ST ?

I still havent seen one on the road yet, and its Ford Central around here. Loads of ST-Line's though...

Also, I saw a 2013 Mk3 ST this morning and spotted it a mile away. I doubt the Mk4 will be so easy.

Maybe that's why I havent seen one yet ! ;)

I honestly dont think any version of the ST stand out from their lesser models. Not from more than 50 yards or so. Mainly the colour makes the difference. Sane for other makes. S line Audi similar to S, GTI similar to R Line. List goes on. Certainly not a reason not to get one for me. The only ST Ive really liked the look of was MK3.5. Never been a fan of MK1 or 2 looks. Had a MK1 3 door but never really liked the look of it. Hatchbacks are a bit boring to look at generally with the odd exception which is 100% personal choice. If you want bling Type R if you want style Megane RS. The new 135i and AMG35 look very similar to the Focus to me. The i30 isnt massively different either.

Do you think if Ford said ok, they dont like the current ST, lets reintroduce the MK2 exactly as it was with an up to date price they would sell many?
