I got it too on my estate. Being an auto I don't get rev matching or launch control, so not much use really. I use sport mode quite a bit - thankfully the estate doesn't get CCD so I don't get the hard ride.
I was pleasantly surprised by the ride on this car, firm enough but not rock hard. The feature i like of the damping system is pothole detection. Other than that not bothered but yea cant have that on the estate. I mainly drive in sport mode but that's because i like the grey screen. Not too fond of the blue one.I got it too on my estate. I'm told that the ride on non-CCD cars is halfway between normal and sport on CCD cars. But because there's no individual mode you can't mix and match.I was pleasantly surprised by the ride on this car, firm enough but not rock hard. I didn’t realise that about CCD. I went in the dealers thinking I would get an auto this time but that took it over the 40k VED bracket so stuck with a manual.I'm told that the ride on non-CCD cars is halfway between normal and sport on CCD cars. With the auto, sport mode is nice because it holds the revs higher as you decelerate for corners, and the shifts are noticeably quicker.
I had considered an Octavia VRS estate because a) you can get CCD on the estate, b) they have an individual mode so you can have soft damping with hard steering, etc
Do we think the mk4.5 will hold its value well or reduce at a simular rate to the mk4?
2020/2021 MK4’s are still £24 - £28k retail now. I was offered £30500 for mine late 2021. Trade sale offers on my mid 2020 are around £25k this month. I think any ST attracting the premium over £40k road tax will be almost unsaleable for first 3 or 4 years. Most will want a far more premium car if they have to pay the extortionate road tax.I think Covid and the lockdowns helped keep the value of the mk4 ST high.
When we first decided to change our mk3.5 for a mk4 in June 2021, I was originally looking at a used car but there were very few around and they were going for £25 - 28k on Ford Direct. Our dealer priced up a new mk4 to our specification and it wasn't too much more to go for a new one so we did.
Luckily we got a mk4.5 for a much lower price than those ordering today.
Given buying a new one today is likely to take you over the £40k mark for road tax purposes, the first five years road tax prices will also push the re-sale value of the car down. Years two to five will cost an extra £1340 road tax compared to an ST that gets under the £40k ceiling.
My 66 plate mk3.5 diesel ST was worth about £500 more than the equivalent 17 plate car because of the road tax changes on 1st April 2017.
Thanks for the reply’s, I’ve checked my order and I’m paying total of £33456 but there is paint and fabric protection and mudflaps included in that price. Also got it on the 0 percent apr for 2 years. Will most likely keep a good bit of equity in the car then 👍🏻
my car is currently in segmentation stage so should be built this month, dealer said I should have it end of march beginning of April time but will see.
Yeh your right, 0% is available over 2 years. If I build a car as close as possible to mine it is £40700 and still lacks a couple of things, a 30% increase on what I paid less any discounts. I couldn't build one online last week, must have been a glitch. Your spec is about £38500 at todays prices (gone up a lot since!) At least that will absorb a chunk of the initial loss so not too bad. TC Harrison are good, I got by far the best offer on a Fiesta ST a few weeks ago, nearly £1k less than the next best. Wished id ordered it, might still do.magnetic grey and performance pack. mudflaps are going to be fitted from the dealer before collection that i will pay them for they are available from ford if you look on the ford parts website, i did the same thing on my puma st that i currently own. i have brought my last 2 cars brand new from the same dealer, so maybe discount added for that reason, i ordered the car on black friday so got some extra discount through that, £500 deposit contribution, £500 trade up. the 0% apr is still available over 2 years and it is 3.9% over 3 years.
They would have been very keen to get that off you so that would have helped, be interesting to see how much they put that up for. Very different cars, the Puma feels proper hot hatch and begging you to go for it, the focus quite hot but more grown up and annoyingly less a few nice little touches like the "ST" puddle lights and front splitter etc. The brakes on the Focus are easier to live with, powerful but not too grabby. The Puma's are powerful and grabby!yes the puma is going in the deal as a part ex, mean green with performance pack. It is a very good car to be fair great fun to drive.
Those are the wrong flaps for an ST, it says in your screenshot "Except.... ST".magnetic grey and performance pack. mudflaps are going to be fitted from the dealer before collection that i will pay them for they are available from ford if you look on the ford parts website, i did the same thing on my puma st that i currently own. i have brought my last 2 cars brand new from the same dealer, so maybe discount added for that reason, i ordered the car on black friday so got some extra discount through that, £500 deposit contribution, £500 trade up. the 0% apr is still available over 2 years and it is 3.9% over 3 years.
