Did you drop camera !? :D When did you get it?

Be interesting to know the build dates on the labels under the bonnet (headlights etc) to get an idea how long since it was built?
It's arty innit! Jaunty angle etc! 😆

I ordered 12/10/2021 so no idea when it was built, actually arrived mid Feb to the dealer but I didn't take collection until 17/03. Tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.

Can you check the dates on the labels attached to the headlights etc ? Be interesting to know when it was assembled. All parts are on JIT principle. ie they are manufactured and arrive to be fitted within a few weeks or so of build. They don't have the space top store high volumes of parts or the will to buy them to sit on shelves. All of my Fords have matched up to within a few weeks.

I do wonder if with the big interuptions to supply chains that JIT isn't so just as it used to be

Maybe not, but be interesting to know. They wouldn't much buffer stock. That's why we have a chip shortage from day one of re opening, they had little to no stock. The other components would be no different.

I’ve either been very lucky with my order or my dealer is lying to me, but I’ve been told that my Order had been ‘gate released’ and is expected beginning of May.
I ordered the day the FL was announced in the media and the build date was January with delivery originally expected 2nd April.

Going by recent experiences, don't hold your breath. Many have been strung along with this type of thing and nobody has got a FL. You can' t order any Focus at present. I think there's a bit of dealer involvement/interest in this post going on too.

I personally think the focus will be dropped this year in favour of the kuga. And the fiesta will follow not long after
I hope not, I went from a focus ST into a Kuga for the last few years (don’t ask) and I’ve missed the Focus the whole time. There is nothing wrong with the Kuga as such but it can’t match the Focus as an all round package, even if they did make an ST version. But, in the electric future all things that make the Focus great will be lost with heavy batteries, range requirements and the suspension setups to compensate.
I’ll keep dreaming if a future when the technology matures we can have 1500kg hot hatches with 400 miles of range again.
On the flip side, if you’re right, the mk4.5 could be the last Hot focus ever made, or at least the last ICE one. If so, I’ll be keeping mine for as long as possible, if it ever actually arrives of course!

They couldn't afford to do that, they would be bankrupt in Europe, probably heading that way currently. Up until this crisis the Fiesta and Focus were massive sellers and had been for donkeys years they mainstay of Ford Europe with the Fiesta in the top 3 for pretty much 40 years! The Focus not far behind. The Kuga goes nowhere near making up for those two and never will, not a particularly good seller. It's probably getting more likely the ST is about finished, models like that just do them harm with financial emission penalties and they sell very few so becoming less viable. You would grab one if you can, can't go wrong. Not so sure on that, I don't think there will be much demand for them in the future, especially when you get left for dead by electric cars!

The only thing id say about the ST and other industries do this to, but it is good marketing to have halo products. Something which by itself does not make financial sense but helps sell the cheaper models that are a small piece of that halo product. It’s why the st line exists and looks almost the same.

It's a real shame what's going on.

My dealer told me some weeks ago he was struggling to get hold of Fiesta's. He seemed to think Focus's were ok however that was before the announcement about parts being made in the Ukraine.

My wife has a 21 plate Puma and it's great. Fun to drive, very comfortable and loaded with extras, many of which were standard on her ST line X.
I've been a Ford fan since I was a kid in the 70's. Grew up watching escorts doing rally cross on Grandstand on a Saturday afternoon. I had escorts, sierra's and a sapphire as company cars in the 80's.

I moved to Rover's in the 90's and early 2000's coming back to Ford with a Mk3 Focus in 2014 before my Mk3.5 ST from 2017.
Those Focus's were a real step up in class on any of my previous cars. The Focus and Fiesta had really moved Ford's up the car scale in my opinion leaving the likes of Vauxhall and others behind.

I keen to stay with Ford and there's little else on the road at the moment that's gives me the wow factor but Ford must be losing customers with all the hold ups.

My build date was due to have been in March but I've not bothered to chase them, it's not worth it.
I've now been waiting for a car since July 2021.

The Puma is Fords best hope and seller at present, stealing a chunk of Fiesta snd Focus customers. We have a Puma ST and it’s a great car, I am undecided which I prefer. The Puma feels more modern ( has that horrible lcd dash) and sharper and still with plenty space most of the time. Engine is cracking. It’s a pig to clean with many muck traps and awkward to clean areas which could well be corrosion areas in future. They both have over firm suspension but the Focus has that bit of big car feel and raised refinement,,, slightly. Economy….. little between them, my ST with DS lowest tune (others are ott and spoil the car in my opionion) averages an easy 36-38 mpg while Puma is similar but actually was in low 40’s in summer.

Just been told my Feb order is now planned for October build date...might get it before Xmas then!
I think your dealer is just trying to manage your expectations when in fact they can’t say when there’s a build date. I was in my dealership on Monday and was shown the update on the system which was still showing as at least a four month halt on production from 21st March. Until production does actually start up again I don’t know how they can give any estimated build dates. I can see it being 2 years from when I initially put my order until I see mine 😂

When did you order yours ?
First few days of February - tbh the wait time doesnt really bother me too much as I am sat in the cheap little 70 plate Fiesta enjoying 45mpg.

I did call the dealer the other day with regards to the agreed price and the 0% apr PCP offer to make sure that everything will be honoured in the event of the car being held up until this time next year and its all good on that side...
