I've just specced mine up on there and if I was ordering today it would cost me another £4.5k  Thats not including the 0% APR now being 1.9%. That track pack would take the car to £42.5k - absolute madness - I'd want an fully specced RS for that kinda money :cautious:
My ex-demo (28 miles) C43 only cost me £5k more than that!

Running in as important now as it ever was. Especially first few hundred. If you do it well you will have an engine that burns virtually zero oil and as economical as mine pictured. These car’s are not at their best until at least 8k, they become noticeably better in every respect compared to new. I’m averaging just under 37mpg and that was over nearly 1000 miles. I am running a DS 95 octane 300hp tune. And that is after using 100% 95 octane fuel from wherever is the cheapest, supermarkets and major brands
Not sure I agree with 'as it ever was', running a new engine in used to be a lot more important. Now the cars are pretty much run in on the bench and they're ragged around at the various docks and loading bays on their way to the dealer anyway.

I've had 3 Mk3s and simply driving off boost until the oil was warmed up and not driving it particulary hard in the first 1000 miles is enough as far as I'm concerned - I had very little oil loss or any issues with any of them. It's true they do get better as they loosen up, same as any car. As for 37mpg, sorry no disrespect but if you're getting that sort of economy out of an ST then you're driving long, boring journeys and off boost a lot and you may as well have bought a 1.0 Ecoboost. There is absolutely no way you can get 37mpg of of the 2.0T Ecoboost engine if you have any fun at all. I once got 42.1 mpg out of mine, just to prove that the manufacturer's figure could be met, but that was done driving around like my dead granny and I may as well have been driving something far less powerful and much less fun.

Really gets my goat when people buy a car like an ST and then bang on about MPG. If you want MPG buy a smaller engined car, otherwise just enjoy the car. It's the same on the AMG forums, it's totally ridiculous.

That's even worse - 37 Mpg from the Mk4? That really does sound like you're not having a whole a lot of fun. I used to average about 27 in my Mk3's, mostly about town with maybe 30 to 40 motorway miles on average a month. I get an average of 23 from my AMG which is a 3.0. So afraid we'll have to agree to disagree on what the definition of fun in a reasonably quick car is.

I always chuckle when you get inevitable reply like yours. Mainly because, what do you categorise as fun? I encounter mk2 and more mk3’s and they virtually all are driving around probably holding me up rather than vice versa. But I also enjoy a challenge with them and haven’t had one yet worry me. Never ever come across these people having fun, or is I am having more fun?
What do I categorise as fun? The hairs standing up on the back of my neck, adrenaline rushing through my system, raised heartbeat. Turning on Sport+, holding back the left paddle and planting my right foot while I listen to the exhaust roar and feel the torque of the twin turbos. Taking advantage of a clear, open road at 6am on a Sunday morning because I was awake and fancied a drive, and no other reason. That's what I call fun :)

Oh, guess I am just not excited to that level by things like that anymore, had a lot of bikes and cars cannot touch the rush you get from those, my M3 is the nearest but still well short . My F80 M3 averaged 30 mpg with 450hp over 4k mikes from new.
Which is kinda the point I'm making.

@Pitsparky

I still actually maintain the the Focus ST is the best bang for your buck in it's class. Yes it may not be perfect and it may lend itself to the normal Ford issues, but I've had 3 Mk3s over 5 years and I didn't have a whiff of a problem with any of them and many miles of enjoyable motoring. I have OCPD and I spent many hours debating my choice over other marques and models.

I understand that people may be of a different opinion to this and have every right to their own thoughts but please - this IS a Focus ST forum. You're doing yourself absolutely no favours by posting negativity about that car on here - members of these forums have made their choice based on their own opinions, which they are also entitled to, and coming on here (a) telling them that they're wrong and (b) telling them their car is rubbish is always going to be inflammatory. You've made your opinions quite clear over several threads, now if you can't make helpful posts then I think we'd all rather you didn't post anything at all.

ohh yehh! I have had numerous ST ‘s and still have one! I will say how I see it without bias, didn’t know there was a rule on only posting positives, very 😢 since when is it ok for you to hurl personal insults?
I don't believe I have 'hurled' any personal insults. I'm simply saying that these forums are here for members to help each other with useful information and other owners really don't want to be told that their car is rubbish and they should buy something else. Everyone, including you, have the right to their own opinions and choices and it is my belief that they also have the right not to have their car 'rubbished'. Continually slating the Ford brand and in particular the Focus ST is not helpful on here and I don't believe it to be very respectful, which goes against both the ethos and the terms and conditions of this site.

I believed you have.

Funny really. On many many occasions the mk4 has been relentlessly slammed on this forum by older mk owners etc, one recently from a guy who as good as said it was the worst car if it’s type ever. I, like with a number of other unjustified attacks totally disagreed on the specific criticisms and replied as such, I was the only one that did, where were you then? I have defended the (and)my mk4’s regularly. I am not keen on the fl simply for its interior and a few external downgrades which is disappointing for me. But that’s just me. The rest of the car is still a great package with a engine second to NONE. if only the price was right. It is at least £4k over priced probably a bit more and that making it uncompetitive, that’s just my opinion. But I don’t think Ford care, the car is finished in any case.
If you'd like to demonstrate how I have then I will happily apologise as this was not my intent. There is always a resistance to change from older Mk owners, we had the same thing with the Mk3. Difference is they say that they prefer their Mk over another, not that people should go buy something else. I've said my piece and I hope this will be an end to this particular discussion, just please remember that nobody likes the car they chose to be rubbished by somebody else and told such and such is a much better choice - as is clear from the number of posts from other members on the subject.

As to where was I then - probably working, as this is a volunteer position, as well as letting things play out before I stepped in.

Just read your post.

Your post almost did what all posts like yours do, that is to raise a frenzy of attacks or ganging up, always happens, very surprised as a super moderator you chose that route. And guess it's your opinion of "rubbished" I do not rubbish my own car, I wouldn't have bought it if I thought that. I have already said what I like and dislike so no point doing it again. This one is still outside after 2.5 years so that says a lot for it, I don't normally keep them that long and could have sold it for more than I paid for it last xmas. I reiterate I am often the only one speaking out against the attacks this car has suffered on this site since the day it was released and 99% of the time no comments like yours were forthcoming. It was the same when I had my MK3, I didn't bother coming on, but read a none stop stream of abuse towards the MK3 then by usually the same people who almost never got scorched by people like yourself. Maybe pick and choose who?

This has drifted well off topic and expected ALB to step, quite rightly. Sorry Alb.
I didn't choose any route, I was doing my job and attempting to prevent something that was starting to upset people. If other members chose to support what I said then that was of their own volition. As I said I am not here all of the time, I do have a job and a life, this position is voluntary and I do what I can. If you see something where you think a moderator should step in then you are free to report it to bring it to our attention.

Can we keep this on topic please - the thread was set up for Mk4 orders and for help on that. You're all welcome to have a discussion on the pros and cons of other cars (in a subjective and non-derrogatory fashion) but maybe start a new thread for it please?

If you don't get any joy with Adrian Flux, I'm currently with a company based in a southern seaside town where there was a battle who were very competitive.
