Hi Guys

Ive just had my car MOTd and one of the advisories is that the UJ joint on the steering column is badly worn. The garage spoke to Ford who quoted over £800 for the part and said that a second hand one would be dodgy.
Is this really the case or can get a used one?

I guess it would be a bit like buying a secondhand CV joint, as that's pretty much what it is. Do you want to take the risk?

You would be if you bought a second hand car.

I see what you are saying but my car is only worth about £100. Yes it is costing me lots for MOTs lately, but over £800 for just one part 😳.

Nope. It’s got loads of rust and is a magnet for hit n run drivers and car keyers so has marks on every panel 😢

It is but Ford would only sell the whole column and not just the joint to the garage who were doing the MOT

Breaking the car would be worth far more than £100 🤣

Because I like it lol. It gets scratched loads in my works car park so I’d rather keep it than get another that I’m too precious about. 🤪. Plus I would know how to break it. I could do the seats lol

I will do when I can pick it up from it’s MOT - self isolating due to being pinged on track n trace 🙄. It’s shock you lol
