Details are sketchy so far but it seems that they will race as Mercedes GP next season, and McLaren will be hunting a new partnership.

hm, interesting. I'd be suprised if Ross Brawn would let his team go that quickly, so i'd say it'll be Brawn Mercedes, rather than Mercedes GP.

Where does this leave McLaren? I can't see Ferrari selling them an engine, no Renault, no Toyota, no BMW. Might they start making their own engines?

edit: Just found this, pretty much answers all my questions

I don't see why they can't continue to supply engines to Mclaren. Afterall they also supply engines to force India!

EDIT: just seen above edit!

So looks like Hamilton and Button may become team mates?

Wouldn't have seen that one coming, i can't honestly see this myself, Brawn are a brand new team that have just had the best start they could have wished for, i can't see them selling out after just one season. Will wait and see, F1 is a law unto itself!

I don't see why not, there was talk if this before last season even finished! Also how do we know this wasn't the plan all along from brawn?? Give the team extra time to find a new, long term owner? He never seemed comfortable to me being the guy who has to fire people.
Ricky,

Thanks for the link - clears a few things up indeed. Not sure I like the name 'Silver Arrows' though!!!

"silver arrows" has been the traditional name for mercedes race cars since the 1930s. It's why mclaren have been silver since mercedes got on board with them!
Thank God for that.

At least they can get rid of that hideous flourescent yellow/green pukey colour scheme now.

I think it's the 'arrows' part - especially as we all know how successful the Orange Arrows team was *cough*. I'd kinda hate the Brawn part of the name to disappear after all their hard work last season.

Personally i love the colour scheme mate! Really stands out on the grid!

The bodywork I can cope with - it's the stupid flourescent wheel covers. It looks like they're driving around on boiled sweets.
There was talk about this back in September.

Don't they own a large share in McLaren too?

It would appear Victor Kiam is the new president of Mercedes.......

"I liked it so much, I bought the company......."

EDIT --> Except it would appear he died in 2001. Oh.

Not with Fernando in a Ferrari. That's where my money would go.

I can't stand Ferrari but with Alonso there and Todt as FIA president there's gonna be a whole new chapter in cheating going on

Oh, and I'd like to see Button stay at Brawn (or Mercedes) 'cos I don't think it will work at McClaren when that team is obviously based around Hamilton. No space for two No 1's as has been proved before.
