Had problems with appalling fuel consumption since i bought the car (no matter where i go or how i drive it always averages 15.6 or so mpg
) £20 gets me no more than 50 miles its that bad, so im going to look into it, going to clean the MAF sensor but noticed it has an a Torx screw but not sure which bit i need can anyone help??

Running DS now on Performance still no better MPG

Im not to bothered about the mpg or i wouldn't of bought a 2.5 T weighing a ton and a half just if something is wrong i'd prefer it be right

Thanks peeps

Need summat like this mate http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-SIDED-TORX-POINT-T...A1%7C240%3A1318
You may find 'tamper proof' within a good comprehensive socket set as well.

Theres a clip and 2 5 sided Torx screws on the induction pipe after the air filter up from the ECU housing, you just need a special cleaner though so i believe 'll search for it now..

Use a little IPA (isoproply alcohol) to clean the sensor it's self

If you can't get hold of the Torx security bits, just whip the whole MAF assembly out. (i.e. the whole cylinder).

That's what I do - therefore, it must be right.

Very rare to find 5-point tamper proof in a socket set as they're pretty specialised. But that set you linked to does the job nice and cheeply, probably costs less than 1 of the several Snap-on bits I managed to blag
Given most of them away now tho.

If you get the Torx bit then once the 2 screws are out the MAF can be a bit snug in the housing as it's got an o-ring on it, bit of moving side to side usually frees it off and you're sorted
