Hi, as a first time new owner of a 2010 spec ST2, does anyone know how much is left in the tank when the fuel light comes on,, handbook reckons 50 miles left at the first indication, that would make me think about 2 gallons/10 litres approx.

2 gallons is about correct but i would not let it get that low, always try if possible to keep it topped up

2 gallon which means your good for about 100 yard stuck in traffic in this weather

is not particularly happy when fuel reserves get low so it's better not to get to the stage where the low fuel indicator illuminates.

50miles but whos 50mile i dont know certantly not a focus ST's 50miles.
i tend to top up when the light comes on as the trips not the most accurate thing.

Some people have driven with the trip on minus, but the lowest i've had on mine is about 10 miles due to the fuel shortage a few years back.

I've had mine as low as 4 miles! and i remember someone posting here not long ago saying that they got it down to minus 20. (hit zero on the miles left, then reset the trip clock)

I had 25miles left according to the STs computer, started it next day to see only 2 miles left! I then had to drive approx 6 miles down country lanes then 4 miles in traffic to the nearest petrol station only to sit in a queue when i got there! Car seemed ok even though i was

myself!

Irony is a bloke in the queue next to me ran out and I had to help him to push his car to the pump!

Ford know people are going to rely on the counter and let it go near to 0.. so chances are they have allowed for that and designed the system to say 0 when you might have a good half a gallon left to play it safe.

The fuel light comes on when you hit 50 miles left in the tank at your current average consumption. So if you drive like a nutter and get 100 miles out of a tank, the fuel light will come when the fuel gauge is at half a tank. If you get 1000 miles out of a tank it will come on when there much much less in the tank.
I've driven 5 miles before with 0 miles left in the tank but that was because when I turned the ignition off with 18 miles left, and back on again, it then said 0 so I knew I had fuel. I tend to take it as an approximation as opposed to Arsene Wenger's Words.

had mine on 0 a few times rolling on the forcourt first time i was

myself but as said above there are allowances there not that acurate for example they say 50 miles from when the fuel light comes on and its down to 0 20 miles later

My ST used to cough and splutter a bit when you gave it some pedal with the fuel light on - sometimes dangerously cutting out when you went to accelerate, but not been noticable for ages now. I'd wonder if Ford were trying to be clever and incorporated a misfire into the map but remaps take it out?

Yep, that'd be me. Sometime back in November I think it was, I had a fuel can in the boot so I refilled when it ran out. However, with this dodgy weather it's not been below half full just in case.

I regularly drive with the fuel light on, never have any dramas an for a ST 50 miles can mean alot!

I drive with the fuel light on. Most I go is 20 miles with it on though.

When it first snowed before Christmas I had to fill up halfway through a traffic jam. A new low

i came of the track the first ford fair i went to on the 0.... managed to get out and get fuel ok but was worried.... went on with it at 85 so thought i was fine dropped very quickly but was fun

Had 0 on mine quite a few times lol car seems ok, seems to backfire more once the range goes below 30 miles oddly!
