Little Trip To Worthing In The Rain

545 Views 13 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Ryan
i went down to worthing with a mate last night to visit a mutual friend and watch the boxing

so on the way (8pm or so) out of crawley, just going past travis perkins on the A264 he was asking about the new mods on the car

there was one car behind me quite a way back....and nothing ahead of me on a dual carrigeway

so i sunk my foot down through 3rd gear, and after changing to 4th i eased off and cruised at around 65mph

no sooner had i done this, the car behind was right up my bahoony and when i didnt bite, he floored it past me staring in my window all hard faced (young lad in some hot hatch that i cant be bothered to remember what car it was)

after watching the boxing we were returning home and i kid you not....at least 4 idiots in cars rabging from renault megans, to golf gti's tried to get me to race

it was pouring down and i had no intention to do this, as its not what i bought the car for!!!

what is it with the road from worthing, the horsham to crawley?

i saw at least 3 olice cars hiding...a ton of camera's....and two cars pulled over by police!!!

is this road used lots for racing or something?

anyway

i have owned a nova sport, an E30 325sport, an M3 and a golf TDI

only twice has anyone ever tried to race me

once was some pr1ck in a golf V4motion (or what ever its called)...and the other time was a bently twin turbo

both cases i was in the M3

but no lie....never before other than those 2 times has this happened

so is it because i drive an ST that everyone thinks im a
who wants to show off

or was it the road i was on (which i have driven many times before and not had it happen)?

or am i too old and notice it more? lol

Arghh, your talking about the good old A24
and yes it does have some right idiots on it at times. I pop up to Crawley quite often and I've seen a few, shall we say, "choice" drivers.

It's a shame that you trip down here was spoiled by a few plonkers

You want to head over to littlehampton there are load of boy racers over there, yeah A 24 is a good road to drive, can be negoiated safely at speed only in dry weather tho.... Police hide all around tbh, due to what you have just mentioned... I had some muppet try and race me in a standard astra last night.

I live in the Horsham area and there are indeed a few idiots in and around 3 areas you mentioned.

As you say the best thing is to try and avoid the red mist

Not surprisingly the last time i was on the A24 the same thing happened, first time with a 1.8 vectra, then an astra van pimped to the max, then a mk1 golf with half of halfords sale glued on.

But its better to just laugh and keep your license.

I dont condone racing either, can still leave a car behind by accelerating up to the national speed limit of 70mph

actually, i picked up my mate from worthing, but we went on to littlehampton to watch the boxing

i didnt suffer any of this in littlehampton, but between there and worthing on the way back there was one idiot in a saxo lol

I live in Littlehampton and am suprised that you did not bump into some of the little W
s in the area . Most are under 20 and new drivers . There are a couple that my son knows that have only been driving 12/18 months and they have had their licences taken away already .

I don't worry about them anymore, I just drive slowly and let them get on with it!

I didn't get the "captain slow" name for nothing

your bound to get lots of people wanting to race you as there are loads of hot hatches on the roads all wanting to proove how big their
's are

If you think its bad with a black one just imagine how many wanna race EO
