Are you opening the car using the key blade? I'd try replacing the fob batteries regardless of if they're sending a signal. Secondly replace the fuse in the car for the keyless system.

Many thanks really appreciate it. Does the location of the receiver vary ie above passenger or driver side depending on which side the steering wheel is on. Sorry if it sounds a daft question .I have a copy of the procedure for removing the receiver.
Or perhaps spend a few quid and don't rely on manufacturer's security? My C43 has keyless and I've never worried about it being stolen that way.i would disable keyless entry if i had it on my car, less chance of it being stolen..
I am sure when my Mondeo key battery failed the locking stopped working but the car still started ok. As though the location transponder in the key is not powered by the battery? I also had to use a working spare key to get my ex flat battery key working again using a re programming technique that I cannot remember.Checked the car battery and its fine. It does start buy o lying by putting g the key in the special place. It's got me beat looks like paying ffordfor the diagnostics.
